    Brother Lowery -
Yes, I saw the show, and I was screaming at the television as Barbara was interviewing the head of the American Evangelical Assoc (don't think I got that quite accurate) or whoever he was. What a missed opportunity to witness to Barbara and the rest of the world about God's holiness and what He can and can't allow in Heaven and exactly WHY we need Jesus. Jesus is the "only guarantee" of heaven, and the others who don't believe in Him will "have to work it out"? So they can squeeze in possibly? Where does he get that? The guy was spineless, in my opinion.

He didn't make a clear enough stand, IMO. He was bowing to popular thought a bit, though he still stated the necessity for belief in Jesus. I was a bit disappointed.

When these ppl stand before Almighty God they will trimble and wonder why there not going to heaven ohhhh yea thats right they didn't do what God said had to be done to get in and thats simple believe in his only begotten Son, Jesus.....People cant seem to grasp such a simple concept.

Sodom and Gomorrah doesnt even hold a candle to America, a Nation founded on God has become a nation of false religions and self righteous, Huministic, I could go on.

I gathered from "work it out' that the point he was trying to make was that a person's would have to do perfect good works to het into heaven, and he was too shy to point out that nobody could, (the poin of the Gospel, and why Jesus is needed) but if you think you can, just try it and find out.
I think we are a bit too afraid of the label "judgmental", (instead of throwing it back at them, with all the things they (pop-culture) are "judgmental over, such as 'judgment' itself, along with homophobia, ID, people's weight, etc) though he did address that with the analogy of drinking Drano. That of course is glossed over.
ABC probably handpicked who they would interview anyway, and Lowery represented the "conservative" view.

It's very possible that he did make a clear stand and explain the gospel message to Barbara, but had his statements edited by the producers.

Thats what I was thinking too. I watched an hour of that show,(I left about the time she got to the Dahli Lama (sp?).

There was also one on CBS last night about Jesus birth (48 hours). I went to that one and they were questioning whether Jesus was "really" born in Bethlehem. And did they really go to Egypt, and one guy was saying that Jesus was born just like other babies get here, and that the story was just written to be a slap in the face to Ceaser? or was it Herod? I forget.

There was also a simaler program on PBS a couple of nights ago, and they were also questioning whether Jesus had sex or not and blah blah blah.

Then there is the Di Vinci code.

You're right Brother Lowery, this world is so lost.

    Working for Jesus,

    Tam

I agree natters and I would bet his interview was edited.

Also, did anyone notice how the Muslim view of Heaven was? It was a view of self-centeredness; all about me and how I will be served on a silk couch by young servants. I’m assuming that these “young servants” will also pleasure their sexual desires, since he did allude to sex being a big part of Heaven.

Here is a good rule of thumb. If a religion in some fashion revolves around sex then it is of man. Take these for example, Mormons - celestial sex as gods, Muslims - 72 virgins, caananite - sex with temple prostitutes, roman and greek paganism - sex was involved in temple rights for certain gods.

Caesar. The "scholar" must have forgotten about Luke 1:1-4 and Luke's explicitly stated purpose for writing the book in the first place.

riverm, I thought the exact same thing that you did. Great minds, I suppose. [IMG]

Well, at least they said women will get young men, too. That was always a big question, as if men get virgins, what do women get, which seems never to have been publicly addressed until now.

And at the same time, the point about it being man centered is true, especially in light of the Muslim criticism of Christians as being afraid of death, and therefore supposedly more "earthly" minded. The Muslims' Heaven is nothing but a rehashed earth!

The only man in the show who said that Jesus was the answer was Ted Haggard. He is the president of the National Association of Evangelicals.

I agree with some comments here that he didn't take a strong stand about Jesus being the only way to Heaven.

I must say that maybe his comments were edited and we probably didn't get his full answer.

When I did some research on Ted Haggard I read some negative things about him. He is also a charismatic and may hold some false doctrines.

I wish they had someone solid in the word to answer Barbara.
