ABOVE AND BELOW

Colossians 3.2.5-9

2. "Set your mind on the things Above, not on the things that are on Earth."

Again and again, Paul continues this theme concerning things on Earth and in Heaven. Paul urges his readers to stop being materialistic and chase earthly and material opportunities on Earth, but to start thinking about Spiritual things that of Heaven, because sooner or later everyone one of us have to go to the Spiritual world and face the judgment for everything we had done on Earth. This will be our last migration and our last destination. This will be also conversion from a physical being to a Spiritual being, from the Earth to Heaven, from darkness of human world to the light of the Kingdom of GOD.

Material things, wealth, prosperity, and comfort are very enticing things on Earth and many of us possessed all these things, and we have no time to realize that our life very quickly coming to its end, and we are not yet completely Spiritual and not ready to meet our Creator. The Lord GOD very firm and unshakable in His Commandments, Statutes, and Warnings, and the spirits of those who seek only wealth, prosperity, fame, glory, power, and comfort on Earth will be judged accordingly to these Commandments, Statutes, and Warnings of GOD, everybody will be judged not according to words but according to their own Deeds.

Spiritual things always belong to spiritual things, and physical earthly material things always belong to a physical world and will return to its dust from which they made from, but the Spiritual things belong to the Spiritual World and will determine the status and position in Heaven for those who have them.

BORN AGAIN

Colossians 3.10

Verse 10 has two very important subjects. One subject is about rebirth from physical being into a Spiritual being by "being renewed to a true knowledge," that means to be born again Spiritually from the Word of GOD, from His Statutes and Commandments.

The second subject is about perfecting yourself in true knowledge of Gospel of Christ into a higher level of Spirituality, in order to be the Spiritual image "the image of the One" Who created you.

In other words, in Christ we are renewed (born again Spiritually) into the Image of GOD Father, just like Christ Himself is also born of GOD Father and became the intellectual and the Spiritual Image of His GOD Father.

"After the image of him that created him." KJV
"According to the image of its creator." NRSV
"In the image of its creator." NIV
"In the knowledge after the image of its creator." ESV
"According to the image of Him who created him." Gideons
"This is the new being which GOD, its Creator is constantly renewing in his own image," GNB

~ 10. "in the Image, in the likeness of GOD" (Genesis 1.26-27, 5.1, 9.6) (1Corinthians 11.7-10) (2Corinthians 4.4) (Ephesians 4.24) (Colossians 1.15, 3.9-10) (Hebrews 1.3).

FAMILY

Colossians 3.18-21

Here Paul returned to the old subject of relationship in the family and urged again wives and husbands to treat one another and their children with respect, compassion, forgiveness, and with love in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 5.22-33).

~ Woman shall be subordinate to the authority of her husband: (Genesis 3.16) (Numbers 5.19-20) (1Corinthians 14.34-36) (Ephesians 5.22-24.33) (Colossians 3.18-19) (1Timothy 2.11-14) (Titus 2.3-5) (1Peter 3.1-2.5-6).

19. Husbands, love your wives (Ephesians 5.21-33) (Titus 2.3-5) (Colossians 3.18-19) (1Peter 3.1-7), and do not be embittered against them.

20. Children, be obedient to your parents in all things, this is well-pleasing to the Lord.

(Exodus 20.12, 21.17) (Leviticus 19.3, 20.9) (Deuteronomy 5.16) (Proverbs 20.20, 23.22) (Matthew 15.4) (Mark 7.10) (Colossians 3.20) (Ephesians 6.1-4).

21. Fathers, do not exasperate (frustrate) you children (Ephesians 6.4), that they may not lose heart

SLAVES

Colossians 3.22-24

Subjects concerning slave is very rich subject in its context of Statutes and Regulations and has its roots in the Law of Moses. According to the Bible and also to some different secular sources of information, slavery always has been as a layer of every society on Earth and has its own social status in the social order among other levels of human authoritarian hierarchy.

The traditional view of slavery or Hollywood perception of it is quite distorted, twisted, crooked, and heavily edited for propaganda and entertainment, a does nor reflect reality of slavery and its true nature. Not a single condemnation of slavery has been ever found in the Bible, only the relationship and rules between slave and its owner is being provided by the Bible, which is Paul described, advised, and mentioned number of times in different places of his writings.

Here, like in his other writings, Paul urged slaves and their masters to treat one another with honesty, respect, and righteousness, not like in secular world according to the rules of the world according to each owner of character and personality, but according to GOD and His Regulations concerning this issue. The masters and the slaves in Christ must treat each other differently according to Statutes specified by GOD, and not according to this world

Paul put slave and his/her master in Christ on one level, as equal in Christ, because eventually they both will receive their own reward from the Lord, and this reward for both of them will the inheritance of the Kingdom of GOD, as it specified in verse 24, because a slave and his master do not live for one another, or serve or own one another, but if they are in Christ, they are both serving and living for Christ and in Christ.

As a general conclusion to a whole meaning of the Holy Scripture and to all Gospel of Christ and to all Epistles of the men of GOD, the conclusion is this that everyone will receive whatever he or she deserve, according to their life and their behavior on Earth, because GOD has no Partiality and will judge everyone not like people judge on Earth, but according to His Holy Righteousness and His Holy Justice without any Bias.
