This morning I overheard two ladies talking about how bad things are getting(with the economy and everything), and one lady said... “I have spent the last few years studying the Bible, trying to find an answer....but it was no help at all.”

The other lady chimed in and said..... “I know what you mean, the Bible is just someone’s opinion anyway.”

Then the first lady responded by saying..... “You know they ran out of things to say in the Bible! Can you believe that the New Testament actually copies some of the things said in the Old Testament!!”
    --------------------------------------------------
Other than showing their ignorance about God’s Word, these ladies also expressed something even more dangerous; When a person shows their contempt for the Bible, they are also showing contempt for the Lord Jesus Christ.
    --------------------------------------------------
After hearing this, I listened intently for the LORD to give me something to say to them, but He didn’t.

When people disrespect the Word of God like this, the Lord usually doesn’t have too much to say to them.

The gospel is never a bad word to share. That's their problem. They're steeped in their rebellion.

I hope you see them again. Give them the gospel in the only name given under heaven by which people can be saved.

Far too many folks want to read the Bible as they would a newspaper.

Wow, the thing that every preacher ought to be able to share is, hold on now, be prepared! THE GOSPEL!!

You know, instead of self-righteously slaughtering these two women.

But this is the "church" to some. Heavens sakes, I've heard preachers preach about people going to hell seemingly happy about it.

Not one extension of grace to them? You couldn't figure out what to say to them? Seriously?

This is more a commentary on the preachers, than that God had nothing to say to them. Seems Paul and the apostles had a word for those who knew not God.

Unbelieveable that two would join in hand as if to condemn the two women, lost in their sin, doing "the job" of sinners, and checking them off in unison.

Unreal. This is really sad, and to be honest that attitude toward them fills me with some indignation. YOU are at fault, you who know you should always be ready to give reason of the hope within you, then to lay it at the charge of God? You're kidding, right?

That was a remarkably bad attitude on your part SL. That situation is what I would have called a golden opportunity. I have had to work off on much less than that before.

You are not a preacher right SL? I certainly hope not because you really do have a lot of STill learning to do!!!!

Come on!.. God put you in that situation and you didn't share Christ with them? Ever wonder what you were doing there at that point in time hearing what you did? GOd placed you there... God's not going to send you a billboard.. (although that was close)... when he has already spoken to all his children these words... "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel"...

    YOU blew it!

And not too surprising Freeatlast sides with you!..

Shame on you!.. you should have shared Christ. Loved them instead of condemning them...

OH, and by the way, we have been in the last days since pentecost!!!!!!!
That's something else you need to still learn... look it up, it's in Acts.. when Peter declared it to be the last days!

This conversation is not some "Sign" of the end times.. people in Peter's day dissed God's word too....

But this conversation was a sign for you to grow up, quit being so judgmental, give up your legalism and love people!...

No wonder the lost don't want to have anything to do with Christ when God's children act like rebellious hoodlums that love to condemn people!

There has been several times that I have had the opportunity to share the good news of the Gospel of our Lord with someone when I hear then use His name in vain. Most of the time the individual shows remorse and apologizes to me but I tell them they need to apologize to someone else. It works!

You are right it is a good opportunity. one of the come backs I use after they use His name in vain is this.
" now that you have brought Him up let me tell you about Him."

I thought it was kinda rough too. I'm ashamed to admit that I have let opportunities pass by without sharing Christ. No excuse for it so I can't condemn someone else.

    Hello preacher4truth

    You said.........
That’s right; This is what “you” said.
It is not what I said.

I said that I “waited” for the Lord to give me something to say.
This is what every Christian(pastor or not), aught to be doing.

Anytime you or I say something(in a situation like this), without having first asked the Lord to let us know what to say, this is called “laboring in the flesh”.

And although I hear a lot of preachers encouraging others to do this by saying, “just do something”, this does not make it right.
    --------------------------------------------------
    You also said........
    I am.
But I strive to be God’s man, not my own man.

Most of the time, when “I” speak what is on my mind, it always backfires.

But if I wait, for the Lord to give me something to say, than I don’t worry about it; Because I was just following orders.
    --------------------------------------------------
This is a lesson, that even the Apostle Paul had to learn.

Over and over again, we see him speaking(before getting the Lord’s permission), and having to apologize for it later.

the Lord already told you what to do. Instead of waiting for some voice in your head, just read the Bible. It says to give the gospel.

    Hi Rippon

    You said.........
So you think, the Lord has a bad attitude?

I am sure you don’t, but when you said......
This demonstrates that you are laboring in you own strength and not the Lord’s.
    --------------------------------------------------
I could have said some smart remark, in an attempt to wake them up to their own Spiritual blindness, but “I have learned” not to.......
    John 6:44
“No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.”

And although the Bible teaches, that God will draw everyone at least once in their life, this must not have been the right time for these ladies.

    Hello Tim

Sure enough, the Lord did say........
And this is a clear cut command to every Christian.
Yet, this is not “everything” the Bible says about ministering.

We are not to simply pick “one passage”, and go through life acting on that one passage, without considering what the rest of Scripture has to say.
    --------------------------------------------------
    You also said........
Well, I may have; And I will find out when I stand before the Lord.
But I am not going to be standing before you or anyone else here.

When ever I see or hear a Christian do or say something that I do not think is “wise”, I give them the benefit of the doubt.
Maybe they know something that I don’t; or Maybe they are doing exactly what the Lord wants them to do.
    --------------------------------------------------
    Next you said........
I did not condemn them; They condemned themselves.

I have yet to learn, why the Lord arranged for me to witness it:
Then laid it upon my heart to share this encounter here.

    But time will tell.
    --------------------------------------------------
    Finally you said........
I hope that made you feel better.

No Tim. The last days started when John the Baptist came preaching in preparation for the Lord.
And yes this is a “sign” of the last days, just as Jesus said that it would be........
    Matthew 24:3-4
V.3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what [shall be] the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
V.4 ¶ And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

These ladies were in a public place, speaking loudly enough for me to hear them 20 feet away.

It’s also interesting that you call “listening to the Lord”, “legalism”:
    When listening to Him and following His instructions, is the exact opposite of legalism;
(Which is listening to some man, tell you what the Lord wants you to do.)

Yes it is taught in the Bible...........

    John 1:7
“The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.”

    John 12:32
"And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all [men] unto me."

    Isaiah 49:6
“And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.”

    Romans 5:17-19
V.17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
V.18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
V.19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

    1 Timothy 2:6
“ Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.”

    Hebrews 2:9
“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.”

    1 John 2:2
“And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”

    Revelation 5:9
“And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;”

    Among others...........

What a chance to share the gospel. Paul knew that he was indebted to share the gospel. He was ready to do it, and he was not ashamed of the gospel. He knew that the wrath of God was revealed for people just like this in situations just like this.

He 'didn't have much to say?' It is for people like these two ladies that Jesus went to the cross.

What is really sad is letting them go on their way in their ignorance :(

What really makes it sad is that I don't know that I would have done any better :(
