    Tattoo Rules

Army Secretary Christine Wormuth has approved a new and more liberal tattoo policy for current soldiers and those hoping to join. The neck, hands, fingers and area behind the ears are now allowed, but the head and face are still no-go zones.

What do you think of liberalizing tattoos rules?

Next time you see a Marine, blow his mind by asking him to show you his Tijuana Tattoo

He will look puzzled and say how do you know that I have one

because all of them have Tijuana Tattoos

it’s like a right of passage thing for them seemingly

Those in the military became slaves of military leadership, and can be treated in any way considered in the best interest of the military. But our bible says we should not adorn ourselves with skin markings.

I never cared… I do know a few guys who couldn’t enlist because of them… guess that is past history.

They went back and forward with one. I remember soldiers getting kicked out or requesting waivers for neck tattoos that had become forbidden as regs changed. Then it was OK again. Then it wasn't. Now it seems to be OK again.

Personally, I don't care. The prohibition was to maintain a professional appearance, but this is an ever-changing cultural measurement.

The changed it because they need people.
I joined during Nam - The army was very liberal about weight
After Vietnam - the Army Decided to enforce the Weight standards.+ years

Same thing happened after Desert Storm:

"The Army dismissed thousands of soldiers for being overweight after Desert Storm ended in 1991. The following year, it discharged more than 3,000, the highest number removed on those grounds since 1984. The practice dropped dramatically as the Iraq war raged. In 2007, the most violent year of the war, 112 soldiers were let go for being overweight."
