Acts Chapter 10?

Starting with Acts Chapter 10:9, while Peter was on the housetop of one Simon a tanner, he fell into a trance whilst he was hungry. God then showed him a vision of all unclean things according to the OT. Y'all know the rest, so I'll go straight to my question. Why was it let down three times? Why not two? four? five? I have mulled this for a while and can't truly figure this one out. I know that God uses "three" a lot, such as The Father, The Son, and the Holy Ghost. He also uses the Spirit, The Water, and The Blood, as the three that bare witness on earth. What do y'all think? Any and all answers would be appreciated. Thanks!!

The number 3 in the Bible is the number of PERFECTION--as in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

I don't think the number 3 has any significance in this case, except it may demonstrate Peter's stubborn streak.

The jews prayed 3 times a day in the temple, but I don't see this as being signifcant here.

Peter refused to eat unclean animals, and he opposed mixing with Gentiles. This is the lesson of Acts 10....Peter, things are different now, and you should get with the program..God made those former unclean animals clean; eat! Peter, there is one in Christ, both Jew and Gentile......I have to tell you three times..should I use a sledge hammer?

I agree there is no special meaning.

It is also reminiscent of Peter denying Christ 3 times, and Jesus asking Peter 3 times to feed his sheep (which might have reminded Peter of denying Christ 3 times).

I think Peter's stubborness might be the best explanation.
