    Yes, I'll admit it.
    I'm an addict.
    I'm a bookaholic...a bibliophile, a bookworm.

I downsized recently and consolidated my library - that left me with 3 empty shelves.
I retired recently so money is not as available as it was.
I committed to spending less money on books.
So I'm recording each book I purchase on a list.

I just added a few today...
......so far this year I've purchased 27 books.

One of them I purchased as a pre-publication... I'm waiting for it so I really shouldn't count that one.
Two are novels - one of them is a compilation (Philip K. Dick, Four Novels of the 1960’s)
Three books I'm currently working my way through now.
Four books are related to Photography (How-To-Books - two are barely more than pamphlets)
Five books were used and rather inexpensive (there's a great used bookstore called Volumes in Houlton, Maine).
Six are biblical commentaries - used for research.
Seven books I purchased on Amazon full retail.
    And I've already finished nine.
    Fourteen
of them were digital (Logos), many of them were deeply discounted or even free.

    Addicts love company.
    Let me recommend a book.

Abraham's Silence, The Binding of Isaac, the Sufferings of Job and How to Talk Back to God.
by J. Richard Middleton. Baker Academic (2021)

It's a rather deep and difficult book to read.
He introduces a theme and dives deeply into aspect of it.
I've been reading the book almost like a devotional.
    I've been taking copious notes.

I look through my Bible for the passages he uses and examine how he connects them.
I'm overwhelmed by the scope of the authors knowledge.
I've got a few of books he mentions on my Wish List already.

It's a good thing that I'm not a drinker... my ability to resist the temptation of book buying is quite poor.

    Rob
