Adding Audio Files to Your Website

Do any of you have experience with adding audio files to a website?

I guess I will be recording in wav format.

Adding streaming audio to your website might be a little tricky, but if you're just interested in putting up files that people can listen to after they download, I strongly recommend converting your .wav files to .mp3, which will be about 1/10th the size.

If you want background music, .mid files are *tiny* and work well (but PLEASE provide a way for the visitor to turn them off), but will sound slightly different on each computer.

If you feel that you absolutely must have it play when they first visit the page...then at least save a cookie or something so they do not hear it everytime they visit but only the first time. And, llke natters indicated, make a way for it to be turned off.
