A hymn written by Joseph Irons in Zion's Hymns. (in short meter)
1 John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
"Adoption"
1. O! matchless, boundless love,
That makes us sons of God,
Let saints on earth and all above
Strike ev'ry tuneful chord.
2. O! matchless, sov'reign grace,
That sanctifies us here,
And will bestow, in heav'n, a place,
When Jesus shall appear.
3. O! soul-transporting thought,
To see Him as He is,
And, with the sons of God, be brought
To taste eternal bliss.
4. O! happy, joyful state,
Beneath a father's care,
Glory, which Jesus' smiles create,
Shall fill each spirit there.
