Afghan Prison Break: A Warning from God?

Could God be showing America, and those who oppose the indefinite detention of terrorists at Gitmo, what would happen if these folks were suddenly let go and allowed to rejoin the Jihad against the West?

I, for one, thinks it is warning. These guys need to be held in detention for the duration of this war. Look at the other countries [Palestine, Russia, Israel, Syria, Iran, etc.] who have imprisoned their political enemies for years, and into infinity and beyond if necessary.

If we let these guys go, in the name of "justice and fair treatment" we will [mark my words] see them again, and it could be when they sneak back into the USA and trigger a suitcase nuke, or a dirty bomb.

There is no way to gage the hatred these folks have, other than to know that when they swear a Jihad, they swear that end to their end, if necessary.

WAKE UP AMERICA....THIS IS NOT A FRIENDLY WAR FOUGHT UNDER THE GENEVA CONVENTION RULES....This is a battle to the ends of time; be it our end or theirs. They are counting on America's sense of justice and fairness, the kind of justice and fairness that will be the reason we are destroyed. Look at how many times these thugs "cut off the heads" of Americans, and other nationalities.

It's time for Americans to get their heads out-of-the-sand, in order to see that the God of the OT knew how to fight the wars He sent His people into. Many times, God spared no one in the land to be conquered. Democracy will not win the war against terrorism, terrorism can only be beaten back by the kind of foe that fights their kind of war.

Yes, righteousdude, you're correct, but the tone of the country today is such that those you refer to don't have the slightest idea that their head is actually in the sand!

I can understand your sentiments, brother, and believe me I once advocated on this board, and got blasted a lot for it, non-trust and respect for Muslims, without thinking that Muslims were people, and Islam was a religion/ideology that misdirects and misleads people.

I forgot my past.
I was once a communist and an atheist and once had as much hatred and animosity towards the West, led by America, as many Muslims have today.

But God interceded because He had plans for me, and I was one of His own.

We do not know if God has His people among those in Gitmo. If He does, we might be advocating the continous detention of brethren-in-Christ.
God has much people among the Muslims too, you know.

Realizing this, I suggest we simply trust God to know what He is doing to and for America. Prayerfulness would be a much needed virtue in these times.

Let us not be naive on what Islam really is, and what it really teaches, but let us also not depart from what this great country has always been known for.

Let us be vigilant, yes, but let us also be fair and compassionate.

In time and with age, ideologues mellow. Kindness shown to the enemy is rewarded, both by the enemy, and by God.

We had a neighbor once, back in the Philippines. He was in the Army in the early 60's when the Muslim insurgency there first began. Out of 40 in his unit, only he, a radio operator, and a civilian armed volunteer survived an attack. Unscathed.

On patrol once weeks before the attack their unit was ambushed, they repulsed the ambushers and took one prisoner. This prisoner was brought to camp, stripped, beaten, tortured, and put in a make-shift holding cell made of bamboo and wood, one meter high, six feet long, pegged to the ground.

Their platoon commander had the enemy stripped, his testicles tied tight with bare copper wire, and the ends brought behind and used to tie his hands. His feet were manacled to the cage.

They fed him one small bowl of rice, and gave him half a cup of water every day.

My neighbor was a Christian, and he was the platoon cook.

Finally he couldn't bear it anymore.

Every day after breakfast, the platoon would break up into squads and go out on patrol. He, the radio operator, and the civilian volunteer would be left behind.

He would loosen the prisoner's testicles, and wipe the wounds with antibiotics, preventing infection. Then he would hand feed the prisoner with food and water. The civilian volunteer and the radio operator took turns as look out. In the afternoon, they would tighten the bonds around the prisoner again, but the prisoner was grateful for the relief he had.

On the third day, the prisoner made a promise to the three of them: "If I am broken out of here, or if I escape, I promise none of you three will be hurt in anyway".

A week later, the captive broke free and escaped. How, nobody knew. But I suspect the three of them gave him enough leeway to work out his escape. Because summary executions are not uncommon in my country, even today.

Two days after he escaped, the camp was attacked.
All but the three died.

Kindness pays, one way or the other.
