There's a theory going around that that's why the murder rate is on the rise. One-at-a-time terrorism.

more likely the ongoing stress and higher unemployment would explain the rise in violent crime here.

People do not commit crime because of stress or unenployment. People commit crime because it is in their heart to do so.

Besides, we are at full employment.

Maybe it's the stress of having to work to provide for oneself that puts murder into the hearts of people.

I'm sure it couldn't just be evil people, Al Qaeda among them.

That can't be true because President Bush said that America is safer than ever from terrorism (linkie).

Who says we're not safer than ever?

I don't think we're safe enough, particularly with our porous southern border. The northern one might need a little work as well, but I've never read about massive hordes of criminals pouring over the northern border.

If I went for years without someone breaking into my house, and then I installed steel bars, and then someone broke in, that doesn't mean that my house is not safer than ever, it's just that's when the criminal chose to break in.

Well, somehow I just don't equate a rise in the murder rate attributable to terrorism as "safer than ever".
Yes, but if there had already been a very serious break-in before (9-11) and then you had several break-ins after you installed your steel bars - as we're not talking about one murder here, but more than ever - would you think your house was safer than ever?

Currently, my biggest safety fear is the way the liberals in government try to disarm the citizens, leaving us defenseless from terrorist, both foreign and domestic.

 Sure now, that's a bit tired - when all arguments fail, blame the liberals for your anxiety.

Bush said he would sign the so called assault weapons ban that liberals first passed. It was under Bush that guns were ilegally confiscated from law abiding citizens in New Orleans, it was Bush that increased the size and power of the unconstitutional BATF. With conservatives like Bush who needs liberals? It's getting harder for me to tell the difference. They all want us to be in a constant state of fear so they can get their global police state set up before we realize what's going on.

And here is an article which refutes Jason Burke, the person doing the talking on the video.

Who says that Bush is conservative? I don't think he's as liberal as the extremists that dominate the democrats, but he's still to the left of center, as are most republicans.

Certainly not a true conservative but "left of center" is overstated.

I'd say "More and more Republicans", but not even close to most. But the right wing (Which Christians should be a part) of the GOP is being compromised by moderates and leftists in the party
