On his TV show tonight- Sharpton was going on about the "bet" that Mitt made to Rick Perry about a policy that may or may not have been in Mitts book.
First of all - I doubt it would have been a serious bet.
But then Sharpton (thats right, I will not call him Rev) - complained about Newt making $60 grand per speech.
I wonder why he didn't mention that Bill Clinton commands
"usually charging about $150,000 per event. On occasion, the price was much steeper."
Hmm - 60 vs 150 - wow, thats over twice as much!
and Clinton also gets:
Presidential Retirement and Maintenance
Under the Former Presidents Act, each former president is paid a lifetime, taxable pension that is equal to the annual rate of basic pay for the head of an executive federal department -- $199,700 in 2011 -- the same annual salary paid to secretaries of the Cabinet...
(note: annual pay for POTUS in office is 400 grand)
In addition to the retirement check he also has additional beenies
Wow, a man can be President for four years and recieve 199 per year!
I served 15 years active Army - and no retirement pay -
(& yes - Honarable discharge)
