Heading on a cruise in a coupla weeks. Trying Celebrity this trip, rather than Princess.

    Vancouver
    Sitka
    Juneau
    Ketchikan

Looking for any who have visited such and took tours, activities truly worth the time and money when we visit each. We KNOW how to enjoy the luxury on board!

Dr. Bob, my wife is jealous. We've been to three of the four places, and she would go again in a heart beat:

Vancouver - One of the most scenic cities in North America. I was there last year on a business trip. I would recommend Stanley Park, but only if they don't have a tour of the Butchart Gardens in Victoria (which would be my first choice by far). If you go to the Gardens, bring your camera and plenty of film.

Juneau - We went on a nature cruise on a large catamaran on the bay. Highly recommend this excursion. We saw all types of animals - whales, eagles, sea lions, etc. I know others who took the helicopter rides to the glacier and really enjoyed it too. However, the helicopter rides are very expensive.

Ketchikan - If I remember correctly, Ketchikan is in a rain forest. Some of the helicopter and plane trips had to be cancelled because of the weather, so you might want to avoid them here. We took a canoe ride (large canoe - about 15/boat) on a beautiful lake up in the mountains. It was not strenuous at all, as we had to accommodate our children (small at the time). Lunch (fresh salmon, what else?) was included. It rained almost the entire time, but they had rain gear for everyone - a lot of fun.

Hope you have a great time up there.

Have fun, I might move to Alaska to keep cooler. I live near Portland, Oregon. Where do you live Dr.Bob?

My mister's boss, Joe Cordill, is on a cruise up there right now and will return by Sunday. Heard they're having a great time!

Kristi Ann, you mean Oregon's not 'cool'? Alaska, from what I can remember when I lived in Fairbanks, was horribly COLD. And I hated all that 'darkness' and then, all that 'lightness'. But the northern lights were pretty; I think I've seen 'em down here a time or two. BTW, like your new "handle"-MsGuidedAngel. [IMG]

    Hiya GrannyGumbo! :D

I actually live in Gresham, Oregon right now. It's just about 10 miles due east from Portland, Oregon. It's to humid for me here. Once I get my SSDI, I want to move to Astoria,Oregon, it's on the coast of Oregon and much cooler there for me.

I would Love to Cruise to Alaska someday, I have been to Mexico in the 1990s on Crusies. Alaska has been on my mind for many years. I won't move up there until I visit the State, I haven't been to Alaska or Canada as of yet either.

I sure Hope and Pray Dr. Bob has a wonderful Safe time on his Crusie YaY!!!

    Love Sis, \o/

    KristiAnn

I'm in a beautiful spot already (central Wyoming between nice mountains, large lakes and high plains.

I've been to Alaska - Anchorage, Fairbanks et al - but never on a cruise or up the panhandle. And it's the only state the bride's never been in.

We will probably take it easy on the cruise as I have some physical challenges that would make glacier trekking a little too rough! Appreciate the other suggestions!

Think with the weather so "iffy" I will wait and link up with a local. PRices for excursions from the cruise line are pricey. So no use to sign up for the tramway to a mountain top that may be socked in with clouds.

I've seen the inside of clouds.

We fly out on Saturday the 28th and get into Vancouver at 10:30 a.m. so have the entire day there. Cruise doesn't board til noon Sunday.

I take for granted that here in Singapore, we only have to drive maybe 45 minutes in heavy traffic to reach the berth. ;)
