The question is not "can't God do what He pleases". The question is "what was God pleased to do"? That is, it's not about did God decree to save but 'how' God decreed to save. He decreed to save by grace through faith.

The more I study High Calvinism the more I scratch my head. They go from getting along with moderate Calvinists in the Counsel of Dort and teaming up against Universalism. To today's High Calvinist denouncing even moderate Calvinists as 'pagan' or 'lost'. Going from works cannot get you to heaven to some distorted understanding that faith is a work of some sort and preaching that salvation is through faith (as is promised to Abraham) is worked based theology.

The High Calvinist might notice I agree with 80% of what they say if they weren't distracted by the 20% they are beating me over the head with.

I won't get started on Arminians this time. :)

Peace to you brothers
