NASHVILLE – An American Baptist College is defending its invitation to an openly-lesbian United Church of Christ Minister, asserting that Christians are making an “idol” of the Bible.

“It’s sad that people use religion and idolatry of the Bible to demoralize same-gender-loving people,” American Baptist College President Forrest Harris told the Tennessean on Wednesday.

The publication then asked that he clarify his use of the phrase “idolatry of the Bible.”

“When people say [the Bible] is synonymous with God and the truth,” Harris responded. “We can’t be guided and dictated by a first-century world view.”

Well, ABC, you had a good run...I guess. That's disgusting that a "Baptist" college has turned so far from God's Word. Guess they missed that 5th-Century BC world view part about "I am the Lord, I change not."

NASHVILLE – An American Baptist College is. . .

This awkward phrasing might suggest the college is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches denomination. It is not. It was long associated with the Southern Baptist Convention (and National Baptists—a joint venture) until being granted independence in the late 1990s.

Itching ears etc.!!!
No wonder this nation is in the state it is; after all, Jesus was just an old fashioned itinerant preacher who never attended a seminary & had no concept of future modern science/life/morals etc. (sarcasm - JIC!)

How does the Bible demoralize same gender loving people?

This is beginning to become a more common argument. They are on revealing that they do not want to proclaim the whole counsel of God's word but only those parts that suit their agenda.
