Real football has them all beat - except maybe rugby.

    Interesting...

I love soccer so the conclusion doesn't bother me at all.

I prefer American football because it has a clear division of Offense/Defense.

How can you say a game is exciting when a score of 3 - 1 is a blowout???

It all comes down to understanding the sport I guess.

I guess maybe if you consider all the fans rioting to be part of the game, then it gets pretty exciting [IMG]

Are you in a time warp? There hasn't been rioting at an English Premiership game for at least 30 years!!

This is a common complaint from American Football fans - but if you judge a sport on the basis of the number of points scored alone, and how often they are scored in a game maybe you should follow darts.

How can a supporter of American Football complain about rioting? American Football is rioting with rules! (Which I enjoy. The Cowboys are the best!)

Can science verify it? Of course. Science can give us equations that tell us if it is possible to run fast enough in the rain to not get wet!

The scientists just looked at games and worked out if the outcome was predictable or not. Surely if a games outcome is predictable it takes a lot of the enjoyment out of it?

That is why I don't watch Liverpool matches, because I know they'll win. [IMG] Now, Chelski are another matter.

Ulsterman bears all the blame (or credit) for me being a Chelsea supporter. [IMG]

I think blame would be the appropriate word. [IMG]

Ulsterman, how could you lead c4k astray like that?

That is the key to enjoying any sport, one must understand it to enjoy it. I am sure I would enjoy rugby if I ever understood what was going on, but I don't.

Soccer is a great game and I think many Americans would enjoy it if they took the time to learn and understand the finer points of the game.

I have even learned to enjoy a good cricket match, now that I understand it a bit.

I guess I would have to go with the scientists on the aspect of surprise. With soccer, it's a surprise when anyone scores.
