Amish Are A Christian Denomination

Amish are a Christian denomination since they preach the biblical doctrine of salvation. Just because they choose to live without electricity does not mean they are not Christians.

The Amish are a branch within the Mennonite community, which traces its roots to Menno Simons an Anabaptist Reformer in Germany. Jacob Amman thought the average Mennonite was getting to liberal and worldly so he took his followers down a different path. Today you can find some colonies that are solid in their faith and some that are quite odd and more of a cult. The determining factor will be in who the elders are and what they teach.
Another splinter group from Menno Simons is the Hutterites who were led by Jacob Hutter. Hutterites are communal and share all areas of the group life equally. Unlike the Amish, they pool their resources to purchase and farm huge tracts of land. They use modern equipment and will retrofit equipment to best serve the needs of the commune. In Canada you can find Hutterites farming over 10,000 acres of land.
Both the Amish and Hutterites are connected by their source in Menno Simons.
The Hutterites actually play a big part in the creation of conscientious objector laws in the US. It's a tragic tale of US government persecution of Christians which led to almost all Hutterite colonies fleeing to Canada.

I don't know if they are or not. Their salvation is dependant on their standing with the church.

This is inaccurate. Their fellowship within the colony is dependent upon their confession of baptism and subsequent submission to the elders. Until a person is baptized they are not bound under the rules of the elders since they are not confessing their faith.

What I said was indeed accurate.
