Natrural selection. When campaigning became a business, it was inevitable that we would end up with "leaders" who could do nothing right, but win elections.

The Republicans can't lose and can't govern.

The Demcrats can't win and won't get a chance to govern.

And meantime, the country goes down the tubes.

    I hope I'm wrong.

I think that the Democrats will the House - but maybe by only one seat: 218-217.

Don't forget: the GOP OWNS the Religious Right, and have already begun mobilizing the masses.

Here is an article from the Los Angeles Times that I initially found at the Drudge Report.

    http://www.latimes.com/news/printedition/la-na-churchvote1oct01,0,6368881.story?track=mostviewed-storylevel

    ____________________________________________________________
    From that article:
"The campaign encourages individual pastors to use sermons, Bible studies and rallies to drive Christians to the polls — and, by implication or outright endorsement, to Republican candidates. One online guide to discussing the election in church, produced by the Focus on the Family ministry, offers this tip: If a congregant says her top concerns are healthcare and national security, suggest that Jesus would make abortion and gay marriage priorities.

At a recent rally in Pennsylvania, Focus on the Family founder James C. Dobson told a crowd of 3,000 that it would be "downright frightening" if Republicans lost control of Congress. If there's a good Christian on the ballot, he said, failing to vote 'would be a sin.'"
    _____________________________________________________________

I feel sorry for Dr. Dobson and Focus on the Family.......:( They are utterly and completely wrong on this one - Jesus would make the salvation of lost souls top priority. How in the world did they lose sight of that?

Like I have said prior: the GOP owns the Religious Right. They will not lose this election. You'll see.

    Regards on this BEAUTIFUL Sunday,

Why Revmitchell, thanks so much for that enlightened and prescient comment, and the substance it has added to this thread.

I doubt if the democrats have the few atheists that exist in the US, in lockstep the way the republicans have conservative Christians in their control.

I thought I would never see any Christian defend protecting a pedophile, until a conservative republican congressman was caught.

I believe Illegal Immigration is going to be one of the keys if not the most important issue of this campaign, however all things will return to normal in the realm of politics after the elections are over. I don't believe that the Democrats will make any significant gains in this election but it may happen by the next major election cycle. I am just hoping that better alternatives will surface by that time. It does become somewhat overbearing to have the Religous Right get involved to the extent that they are and doesn't do much in the way of positive testimony for Christ as this is being more about advancing the personal agenda of certain religous right wingers and that is a sad shame IMHO.

Well! I suppose that based on that the only alternative is the ungodly left.

Exactly what do you mean by this? Are you implying that the right alone holds the monopoly on godliness? Are you so polarized in your thinking that you are actually offering this viewpoint?

    I certainly hope not....

Right there in the Democrats' talking points for this week. Therefore, it must be blindly accepted as fact and not questioned. Remember, it's unAmerican to use logic and free thought. Instead, we have to blindly be loyal to the ________ party.

    Hello Revmitchell,

Perhaps you didn't see my DIRECT questions to you. Here they are again:

Since Rocko pointed out that you are "on a roll," perhaps you might want to answer questions that were directed at you.

    Haven't seen any here.

But I have seen Christians who support organizations that support pedophiles.;)
