Ancient Echoes

I recently purchased this CD

Some very interesting arrangements of ancient melodic fragments with reproductions of ancient instruments. The publisher advertises this as "music from the time of Jesus and Jerusalem's Second Temple."

SAVAE, however, does not make that claim. They hypothesize that recurring motives and progressions found in Hebrew music from Jewish centers around the world have a common origin possibly dating back to 1st-century Palestine. With the exceptions of tracks 8 and 15, the music accompanying the ancient texts was newly composed using these motives and progressions. Tracks 8 and 15 borrow from Suzanne Haik-Vantoura's decipherment of the accent marks in the Tiberian Masoretic Texts, and are arguably complete ancient melodies preserved in Hebrew texts.
