As soon as this basketball game is over I'm going to watch the movie, "Idiocracy".

WHY does the "West" always seem to get involved in these "wars" that they can never win? Such is the arrogance and pride of sinful man!

The Ukraine situation is an issue for Europe to deal with. Ukraine is not a member of NATO. That said, the West can bring Russia to its knees if it enacts crushing trade and economic sanctions. Cut off Putin's money. Unfortunately, Europe lacks the will to do nothing more than spout empty rhetoric.

I like the Ukrainian people, especially after watching videos about Ukrainian life recently, and hope we do as much as possible to help them remain free and think its important to stop the advancement of communism.

On a side note, Ukraine has an underground militia that is really tough and if Russia moves in there they aren't going to find weak-kneed resistance.

The US, Russia, and Ukraine signed a treaty in the 1990’s. In return for removal of nukes from Ukraine, Russia promised recognize its sovereignty and not to invade and the US promised to help if they did. If I understand it correctly.

Russia invaded and took Crimea and we broke that treaty by not helping. Now it’s about to happen again.

peace to you

I am far more concerned about The Communists in DC than the communists in Russia.

You are referring to the 1994 Budapest Memorandum. The problem with that agreement is that by the time the U.N. Security Council acts, Russia will have achieved its military objectives in the Ukraine; namely to install a puppet regime in Kiev. Unless Biden is willing to order U.S. troops into battle, there is not a lot that our troops can do. The West's attack on Russia will be economic. However, I doubt Biden and the Europeans have the intestinal fortitude to act decisively.

The real tragedy will be a bloody civil war and guerilla campaign by Ukrainian patriots. Putin will be fine with the Ukrainians fighting each other, so long as he has control of Kiev. It is the Ukrainian people who are going to suffer.

there are BILLIONS of Russian money in "Western" countries, mostly probably illegal. Like what Putin did when he annexed Crimea, there will be a lot of hot air from the "West", but nothing that really bothers this THUG of a "leader"! He should be removed from being president of Russia.

Fine, but the concerns are not mutually exclusive and the atrocity to come against the Ukrainian people should not be overlooked because of the concerns at home. .

you kidding, right? Putin can CRUSH their "resistance" in a matter of HOURS!
My understanding is that their underground militia are entrenched quite well and prepared to inflict severe damage. I may have to see if I can find the video I watched because it looked to me that these guys were into some serious gorilla warfare and weren't going down easy, its been a while since I watched it.

But WHY should us in the "West" have to keep on fighting in "wars" that have nothing to do with us? TRILLIONS were probably spent on Afghanistan, over the many years that the "West" spent in there, and trying to help them. And it got us NO WHERE!

This "war", or "invasion" has got nothing to do with either the US or the UK!

Maybe the could last a few days, or weeks, but they WILL be defeated, which is why they want us IDIOTS in the West to help them!

I don't see much of a comparison between the two situations. To start with the Ukrainians are a democratic free people and unlike the Afghans are actually willing to fight to the death to stay that way.

When the Russians were in Afghanistan the gorilla warfare terrorized them for years and were never defeated and I'd say these guys are smarter, tougher and better prepared. As per your claim that helping them would make us idiots I would beg to differ.
