Matthew 28
1 Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the grave.
2 And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it.
3 And his appearance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow.
4 The guards shook for fear of him and became like dead men.
5 The angel said to the women, "" Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified.
6 ""He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.
7 ""Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you.''
Luke 24

The Resurrection

1 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared.
2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb,
3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
4 While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in dazzling clothing;
5 and as the women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, "Why do you seek the living One among the dead?
6 "He is not here, but He has risen
. Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee,
7 saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again."
8 And they remembered His words,
Come and SEE! Christ is Risen! and He ever liveth to make intercession for us!

Come and see where the Risen Christ IS!

Hebrews 8
1 Now the main point in what has been said is this: we have such a high priest, who has taken His seat at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,
2 a minister in the sanctuary and in the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, not man.
3 For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices; so it is necessary that this high priest also have something to offer.
4 Now if He were on earth, He would not be a priest at all, since there are those who offer the gifts according to the Law;
5 who serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, just as Moses was warned by God when he was about to erect the tabernacle; for, "" SEE,'' He says, ""THAT YOU MAKE all things ACCORDING TO THE PATTERN WHICH WAS SHOWN YOU ON THE MOUNTAIN.''
He performs His unique role as our High Priest in Heaven - just as Lev 16 predicts in the "Atonement solution" of God for the world! The One Gospel - providing the gift of eternal life -- and forgiveness of sins offerred freely to all as Christ stands at the door and knock if ANYONE hears and opens the door He will come in and begin fellowshipping in restored communion with man!

Passover now celebrated as "good Friday" and Feast of First Fruits now celebrated as week-day-one Easter Sunday!

Praise God!

now this is what i dont get.

matthew 28.

now after the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, mary mag. and mary went down to the grave... etc.

all that's saying is that ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK MARY MAGDALENE AND MARY WENT TO THE TOMB. there is no reference there as to if the Savior rose on the first day of the week.

notice it says "as it began to dawn towards" which means it was really really early on the first day of the week. mary and mary went to the tomb at this time, and Jesus wasn't there... hmm.. which tends to lead to that Jesus rose on the sabbath.

you pickin up what im puttin down here?

Mark 16

9[Now after He had risen early on the first day of the week, He first appeared to Mary Magdalene, from whom He had cast out seven demons.

10She went and reported to those who had been with Him, while they were mourning and weeping.

11When they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they refused to believe it.
John 20
John 20
1 Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came early to the tomb, while it was still dark, and saw the stone already taken away from the tomb.
2 So she ran and came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "" They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.''
3 So Peter and the other disciple went forth, and they were going to the tomb.
4 The two were running together; and the other disciple ran ahead faster than Peter and came to the tomb first;
5 and stooping and looking in, he saw the linen wrappings lying there; but he did not go in.
6 And so Simon Peter also came, following him, and entered the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there,
7 and the face-cloth which had been on His head, not lying with the linen wrappings, but rolled up in a place by itself.
8 So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed.
9 For as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead.
Why are they continually focused on the "first day of the week" if this is not the day of His resurrection?

Surely "it deserves mention"

Here is the most compelling evidence ...

Luke 24
13 And behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was about seven miles from Jerusalem.
14 And they were talking with each other about all these things which had taken place.
15 While they were talking and discussing, Jesus Himself approached and began traveling with them.
16 But their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him.
17 And He said to them, "What are these words that you are exchanging with one another as you are walking?" And they stood still, looking sad.
18 One of them, named Cleopas, answered and said to Him, "Are You the only one visiting Jerusalem and unaware of the things which have happened here in these days?"
19 And He said to them, "What things?" And they said to Him, "The things about Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word in the sight of God and all the people,
20 and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to the sentence of death, and crucified Him.
21 "But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, it is the third day since these things happened.
The first day of the week - was the "Third Day" since the Crucifixion!

we have to remember this is the Jewish people we are talking about there sabbath starts at sunset, not with the rising of the sun in the morning, if as the church teaches that Jesus died on good friday and rose on sunday morning it is not three days and three nights, only if he died on Wednesday and they buried him before sunset and then he would have risen before sunset on saturday night, that makes it three days and three nights.

I agree that In Luke 23 you have the Jewish timeline for days when they are told that Sunday - the day they are walking on the road with Christ "is the THIRD DAY" since the crucifixion.

The Jewish system of reconing days is "inclusive" which means that any part of the day used for an event -- qualifies the entire day.

For that reason a Friday Crucifixion would include what we call Thursday evening AND Friday "day time". Sabbath would be Friday-evening and Saturday "day time". And finally the Third day is Saturday evening and Sunday "day time".

However EVEn in their system "DAWN" was still at the start of "day time" so this was really our Sunday morning! And they were saying that Sunday late afternoon "Was the Third day" since the Crucifixion.

The only way for Christ to have been crucified at the 6th hour in the day time AND for Sunday to be the "Third day" since the crucifixion is to have a Friday afternoon Crucifixion.

But the bigger problem here is that the Gospels were written decades after the death of Christ (in some cases). That means THIS was the time when they should have been rolling out "the NEW NAME" for "WEEK DAY ONE" -- and yet they STILL use the "Week day one" term as if "NO NEW NAME" for that day was being introduced!

In Christ,
