Anglicized ESV?

    I just came into possession a copy of an ESV bible that was published by Collins. This is the publisher of the ESV for the UK. I noticed on the copyright page the following statement:

    Does anybody know what "anglicized" means? Anybody know how this editions differs from the edition that Crossway is selling in the USA?

    Does it contain the Apocrypha? I had read somewhere (don't remember where, perhaps on the esvbible.org website Q&A page) that an Anglicized version might be published which included the Apocrypha.

    Any translation has been anglicized to some degree. A good example of this is the word baptize. It is NOT a translation of the Greek word; it is "anglicized," which means that the Greek word was brought over into the KJV as an English adaptation.

    The ESV site offers this explanation:
    It appears that the publisher has merely altered spelling discrepencies such as color vs. colour, etc. and does not "red letter" the Words of Christ.

    The same is done with most books that are published in both the US and the UK. You can even get programs that will do the same for the webpages you visit.
