I realize I am not a new member but this forum is the only one that came to mind with I decided to post the following.

I guess it is time to go public with the following announcement.

I have been feeling bad for the past month so I went to the doctor who ordered multiple tests. (I have lost 30 pounds in the past month without dieting.)

On Friday I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Pancreatic Cancer. When discovered it had already spread to my lymphatic system.

The prognoses is not good. Depending on the course of treatment we agree on and how well I respond to that course of treatment it looks like anywhere from 3 months to 8 months.

My family has been notified, as has my church leadership who also announced it from the pulpit this morning.

Now it is time to let my Baptist Board family know. We covet your prayers and good thoughts.
I will keep this updated as long as I am able.

Thank you and God bless.

Congratulations on your new appointment as an evangelist to cancer patients and their caregivers. My day job takes me to a cancer treatment center about 50 miles away from the home church. Even though I am an employee, there has been ample opportunity to share the Gospel, pray with folks who are afraid and in the fight of their lives and with the doctors and nurses on staff. I was privileged last year to officiate the home-going celebration for three patients who had lost the fight but won the Victory.

For now I will pray for you and your family daily. I will also pray for those assigned to your care. To God be the Glory!

Tom, you and your family have my prayers. I am grieved to hear this news, but I know God will remain as faithful to you as He has always been. As you are able, please keep us informed as to how you are doing. I have appreciated all our interactions in the brief period of time we have known each other on the Baptist Board. I am honored to call you "brother".

Dr. Cassidy,
I, too, was very saddened to hear this. You and I have often been on opposite sides of the discussion, but I have always held you in high regard as a Bible scholar. I will certainly pray for an overwhelming sense of God’s presence and His sufficient grace for you and your family during this time.

Having been friends here on the Baptist Board for many years, I will look forward to meeting you face-to-face someday in Glory!

Sincerely,
Bob

TC you have been a kind friend and Christian brother since I've been on the board... There are no words to express not only how you affected me but everyone here... Like Dr. Bob and everyone here I am saddened by the news and can only agree with what everyone has previously said... We never know why Gods leads us to where he wants us to go and why but we are always in his loving hands... My prayers go with you and your family and may you all find strength, comfort, grace and love abounding in your time of need... Your Christian Friend and Brother... Brother Glen:)

Sorry to hear this TC. Will pray for your comfort and peace in the days to follow. My good thought are that having worked with cancer patients I’ve seen many far exceed their initial survival rate prognosis so will hold out for hope that God will grace us with your presence here on earth a bit longer than predicted if you don’t mind. If I may suggest, perhaps discuss looking into signing up for Targeting RAS and Biological clinical trials with your physician as I’ve witnessed some pretty remarkable improvements within these fields.

Thank you for that notification Tom. Will pray for you.

Early last year I was diagnosed with skin cancer. They said it was non malignant but I have to have four monthly check ups and have my nymph nodes checked.

Brother Cassidy, I thought it seemed like you weren't posting very much, and I suppose this explains why. Sorry to hear this news. May the Lord bless you and yours in this trying time.

Brother, I'm sorry to hear this, and sorry that I did not see this thread until just now.
You and I have had one or two ups and downs, but I have never doubted for a moment that you are a true child of God.
You are headed for a place where there is no M.S., no pain and no weakness; and where death is swallowed up in victory. Where you will see at last the face of your Lord and where every tear will be wiped from your eyes.

In the meantime, God may have some more work for you to do in comforting those who share your illness but not your faith, and directing them to the Saviour.

You are in my prayers. Thank you for the godly wisdom that I have found in so many of your posts.

I am so sorry to read your news. You are in my prayers. Have you started treatment yet? Please keep us updated as and when you can as I know that treatment can be very tiring.
