It doesn’t matter whether the author is “liberal” or not, he has voluminous recordings demonstrating that Trump knew the truth about the pandemic and deliberately downplayed the nation’s response, causing tens of thousands of deaths from inaction and cratering the economy for the long-term.

I personally know two people who have died and at least a dozen people who have had a severe case of COVID-19. Some of those who have survived may have long-term disabilities because of it.

The President, beyond everything else that could be said about his lack of character and corruption, is inept.

What was Trump supposed to do, induce a national panic? Tell people to go ahead and whoop it up at Mardi Gras? Odd again how the left ignores China's role in this and it's a big one.

really odd how Woodward claims to have had this bombshell for months and months, and it's just now being talked about, even by Joe Biden. Makes one wonder if it's not part of a coordinated effort or something . . .

It may not matter Woodward's political leanings, but his character is in question. Bobby lied about visiting comatose Casey in the hospital and kept his big mouth shut when everyone was wondering who was behind outing Valerie Plame. Woodward only tries to damage Republican presidents with his "stories".

Did no one else think it obvious from the outset that closing the borders to China meant it was extremely serious? No president approaching re-election wants to do a thing like that.

When they began the public discussion, the Dem faux impeachment having taken precedence, it was clear that Fauci would be responsible for making sure people had to face some hard facts, while the president would be leading the way with optimism and minimizing panic.

Trump had it right, though he could have also closed the borders to every country that didn’t close theirs to the Chinese when he did.

And of course the MSM/Dem role was to counter good sense and create as much of a crisis as possible. With no testing immediately available, they made sure people spread it, at least in their own districts. Their approach was as stupid as the Italian “Hug a Chinese,” but far more sinister.

The progressive leftists have had a field day with this all right, they and the Communist Chinese are responsible for a host of deaths.

On who’s watch did this occur? That’s all you need do, ask and answer the question. Ineptitude is and was apparent. There were missed SOS signals, little if any preparations made to combat pandemics, no comprehensive testing, lying to the American public etc. where I come from, that’s grounds for dismissal.

I agree on this point. POT:S jeopardizes the Washington elite. They hate him because he won’t bow down to radical leftist ideology. He challenges their presuppositions. He exposes their lies. He puts America first. He is the only voice the common man has in Washington, and that’s why his base will never, ever abandon him, no matter how many books come out attacking him.

Personally, I think the response to this crisis is a reminder of the ineptitude of government in general.

What exactly do you think the tapes say? This was late January, early February. Just because he “played down” the threat in the press doesn’t mean he wasn’t addressing the issue. He listened to the experts and he acted.

He shut down travel. B:den called him a racist that was over-reacting to the threat. He saved hundreds of thousands of lives that would have been lost if B:den were in office.

Exactly. Government bungled this - everyone in government that touched this issue fouled up - from the preparation for this all the way to the response once it hit. Bungling is one thing, but some of what “government” did was nefarious. While Trump was handling the crisis like a good leader, the Dems and their MSM were busy undermining those efforts even though it meant death to thousands.

Cuomo is obviously guilty with his sending COVID patients into nursing homes. The entire New York/New Jersey area was handled about as badly as could be, with all of those precious ventilators doing little to help. And the HCQ science deniers in government are an especially odious bunch, as many more would have benefitted from early treatment.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I’ve heard it for a long time now. You think your side does things right, the other side is evil incarnate. Folks on the other side from yours think that their side does things right, the other side(your side) is evil incarnate. It’s a major gripe I have with conservatives and liberals - they think if they could just have their way with running government, then government would be pretty much run perfectly and create paradise on earth, if those folks on the other side weren’t opposing them. I agree with the Founding Fathers - government is run by fallen, corrupted human beings and its scope and power should be limited so that regardless of the political leanings of the people running it that the damage they can do is limited.
