After all I went through to get my copy of the original Worms game (sent overseas!), I do NOT want to keep my only copy at work (the school where I teach).

So I burned a copy, after selecting the option to SHOW HIDDEN FILES. It should be exactly the same, right?

Well, my installed full version works GREAT in Windows 3.1 on the 486 computer at school, IF I have the original disc that I purchased. My burned copy locks up.

It was a successful burn, according to my cd burner. What's the problem?

I have yet another question about a piece of software called PC-DOS...

Is it possible that there's a hidden track? I remember older versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator doing this. Every time you copy it, you don't copy the hidden track, so it will only work off the original.

I think the practice of this has been abandoned in favor of license numbering.

Got me on the burner question, Margie.

But PC-DOS was the version of DOS that IBM developed after the Microsoft horse had already left the barn. I think it was pretty good. My first version of DOS was DR-DOS 6, which was head and shoulders above MS-DOS.

well actually I believe I noticed the boo-boo

Yer selecting the files for it to copy - hidden file will always exist in some form or another

You have to make sure you have a certain type of program - the one my brother has will only burn entire drives - no files - tho he does have a program to do files - the one that does just drives works on all wonderful CD's.

So you may need to get another piece of software as long as your burner is a manly burner - since there could be hardware issues.

Wrong, unfortunately. Almost all CD games are copy-protected. I can understand why they do that, but it doesn't really stop anyone from making illegal copies, and it makes it harder for us honest folk to make safe backups. There's a site dedicated to providing workarounds, patches and utilities that address this problem: Gamecopyworld

The ads are a bit offensive, but I have a proxy server that blocks most ads anyway.
