    It really annoys me :mad: How am I supposed to rant and rave about shallowness of new songs when someone writes a good one like that..... ;) Great job David :)

    I like it. It is different than all the contemporary ones that only talk about God's love, heaven, he won't ever leave you, etc. But you actually mentioned about sharing the Gospel and not keeping it to yourself. I like that.

    I'm kinda new here and don't follow you...sorry.

    I was just trying to find somewhere I could share some of the things that are going on in my life. I thought a Baptist board might be the place to go since I am one. But most of the people I go to church with think I'm a heretic.

    Come on, David! Sorry about not posting in response... just saw the thread today. I like it, and would like to hear the song. It passes part of my three-stage test for corporate worship. I'd have to hear it before clearing it for *our* use. Incidentally, those three stages are:

    1. Is it lyrically sound?
    2. Is it simple enough to encourage congregational participation?
    3. Is it musically interesting to a wide variety of people?

    Keep up the writing. Not many are brave enough to post their own songs here. Good work!

    David: Gib was refering to "I Love My Cat"...a little thing I wrote here a couple of years ago to take a shot at the worst of today's songs:

    Why do people at Church think you are a heretic? If they have a problem with that song my 2¢ worth is the problem is theirs.

    Aaron, my 2¢ worth on the chorus is it's the opposite of today's stream of "Yeah God, here I am, ME, singing at You, You are so lucky to have ME doing this, You should bless ME extra for being up this time of a Sunday morning, really where would You be if You didn't save ME....etc etc" style of songs.

    I think it covers the "it was for me" part in 3rd verse.

    All - Thanks for the input

    Aaron -
    Pete's right. We hear some much about the "me" and how much God loves me,like I'm worthy of it. We're not(at least I'm not).
    And yes I believe God loves me, for God is love.
    I was trying to make a point with my fellow church members, whom I love, with this song. I think God chose to save us for his Glory and not ours. And we should try and magnify(make much of) him and not ourselves.

    I have about 6 or 7 more that I may post sometime.
