Any Georgia Suggestions?

The Georgia coastline is gorgeous. Helen, GA is a great location. Lake Alatoona is nice too.

 

Stone Mountain is a lot of fun.

Joseph is so right on Stone Mountain! I love that place. I got to go there on a band trip. The view from the top is breathtaking!

Okefenokee Swamp in Waycross is a top tourist spot! My dad worked there back in the 70s.

The Coca-Cola museum in Atlanta is wonderful too. I have been 2 or 3 times and will probably try to go again.

 

I live in the 'burbs near Atlanta, and I wouldn't recommend Underground. It's OK, but there are more interesting things to see. The new Georgia Aquarium is on the top of my list--haven't been yet, but plan to go soon. If you're a history buff, take the guided tour of Oakland Cemetery. Very interesting! It's also beautiful.

I do recommend Stone Mountain! It's lots of fun and the view is beautiful from the top. When the Braves are playing, you can see the fireworks at the Stadium from on top of the Mountain. It's cool.

 

I have to chime in and say Stone Mountain as well.

Oh, we spent our honeymoon in Savannah in May 02! Loved it! Lots of history and interesting places. Not to mention--Lady and Sons restaurant!

 

Songbird--Savannah gets my vote for one of the most romantic places in GA. We spent part of our honeymoon there 23 years ago. It is beautiful!

I was in Jessup back in 76 with the circus I worked with. Before the animals could be let off the trucks, we had to make a sweep of the perimeter and killed 13 rattlesnakes! We had a rattlesnake meal prepared for us by Shorty, our cook. Of course, most would not even try it.

Anyway, I would steer clear of Jessup if I were to go back there again today.

 

I'll take possums over rattlesnakes any ole day!

If in Savannah and you want to go the Lady and Son's restaurant, expect to wait a long time. If you are not familiar with that restaurant, it is owned and run by Paula Dean and her two sons. Paula is featured on Food Network's cooking show "Cooking with Paula Dean."

Try to go during an off meal time, like 3:00 p.m.
