Best gun dog I ever had was a GSP, Mitzi. She got her leg caught in a trap while out pheasant hunting & had to bust the stock on the gun to pry it open to free her. She just took off hunting again.

I've had beagles for rabbits, coonhounds for raccoons and possums, now it's Anatolian Shepherds for protecting egg production. Best rabbit (and varmint) dog I ever had was a sooner - Border Collie / Beagle / Cur mix.

I knew of some folks that ran Airedales with their Coonhounds, but other hunters wouldn't run their dogs with them because the Airedales were aggressive toward their dogs, ran them off the tree.

GSPs are brilliant alrounders. We bred them in with bull terrier and grey hound for hunting pigs.
    Call them Bull Arab breed.

I had an Irish setter who lived to hunt birds. My brothers Brittany is good also, however the German Long Haired Pointer is good too.
