I got the "20th year anniversary" edition!Generally believed to be his best book. I read it years ago and have quoted extracts on this board from time to time.
My biggest concern with him was that he seemed to go JW and Sda on final state after death!Stott has a mixed reputation here in Britain because in the '60s, he opposed Dr Lloyd-Jones' call for evangelicals to come out of liberal or mixed denominations, and he led the Anglican evangelicals deeper into the Church of England which has been disastrous for them and for evangelicalism generally.
But none of that reflects on his book which is well worth a second read.

Packer and Stott wrote well concerning the doctrines of God, Wright has not!I don't understand why Bible believing evangelicals go gaga over Stott. Or Packer or Wright.

Those 2 writers were!My point is that Bible believing evangelicals in general heap high praise on the high academics of the COE as if they are in an exclusive class by themselves, spiritual giants, gifted writers.
