Any PDA / Pocket PC users?

Do most of my study on an NEC 880 with olivetree, have a dell ppc with olivetree, e-sword and couple others bible programs.

Have others laying around that I have used in the past.

I do more on the 880 (it is a big handheld pro) than on my big machine anymore.

I don't preach much anymore, but think it would be great for that. I used olivetree a number of times in Sunday school teaching for looking up things. My son preaches now and then and uses his dell ppc - says it works quite well.

I would recommend almost any of them with Palm OS. I use a Sony Clie, works great. several guys at work are now using the handspring treo. Its a palm phone. Sony has a new one that is really cool, but It is not supported yet in the U.S.

 

How do the palms do with Bible programs? Are there any real resources for add ons?

In the ppc I'd say anything, just be sure you have a slot of some sort for the stuff Dell has some nice prices. We have two of them and love them. Most of the ppc's come with standard tools for organizing that sync with windows outlook.

 

The treos are very nice. Also, Palm based systems in my experience tend to get MUCH better batery life.
A guy I work with just sold his PPC because he got tired of the battery going dead all of the time. I am not sure though about the newer Palms though as they may not get the battery life they once did.

 

Most ppc's run a day to a week, depending on how much you use them. Have one that is lucky to last 2 1/2 hours of use - it sits in the garage

Casio has some organizers that do very basics and taking short notes - they use regular batteries and will last into the months. PV 400 series.

I use handheld pro's that will go about eight hours of use which is pretty good. They are bigger however and can have a larger battery.

Most any rechargeable battery is going to be limited to 4-8 hours of use - ruff guess.

To make them do any better they would have to be bigger and heavier which customers don't like.

Many of the units have add on or extended life batteries that help.

The batteries are designed - I think - to fit the business man that is going to stick it in the cradle daily to sync all the information he needs for the next day and get a charge at the same time.

I have a Compaq Ipaq. I got it in 2001. I haven't had any trouble with it yet. However, the battery life leaves much to be desired. The newest ones seem to be much better in that area though. I bought a Bible program for it from Office Max and it sucks. I don't like it at all, so I need to find something else.
