    Never skied before coming to Montana. Now I quickly approach intermediate status in tele-ing. It's downhill type, but your heel is free, and to turn you dig in with the toe, and it's pretty popular here. Also, the rockies are beautiful.

    Anyone else ?

    I always enjoy watching the telemarkers. I haven't quite decided if it looks fun or not. I suppose you will soon be putting some skins on your skis and hiking up in the backcountry.

    I don't personally telemark but I do enjoy downhill skiing. We went to Snowbird over NYD weekend for four days. I'd like to get up to Montana in the winter sometime.

    Montana has several excellent ski areas. And they are cheaper than the east coast areas I've been to. And the black diamond runs are truly intimidating.

    A few days ago, a friend and I hiked up Point 6 out here, camped and skied down in the morning. I haven't quite mastered the skins thing yet, and it is very hard on the lungs. Hyperventilating air that's 10% can take it's toll. But I am getting great excercise, and find myself praying for snow.

    The saying goes.......
