Anyone into Tie Dyeing?

I have wanted to give it a try, and when I see some of the shirts in the store I wonder how in the world did they get that design.


I do screen printing T-Shirts and Heat Transfers at home, and since I can get the T-shirts so cheap, I have wanted to give this a try too.

A few weeks ago My grand daughter started this hobby ............. Our first effort was a "green effort" :smilewinkgrin: using berries from the field ................ washed away in 2 washes :tear: . Then we used ink ....... still going. Our best to date :thumbs: was a dark red T shirt which we tiedyed using bleach and it is a masterpiece. We scrunch up about 10 or so bits of the T shirt and twist them tightly around rubber bands then soak in the dye/ or in the case of our best effort bleach, on the dark red, we`re hoping to do a navy blue one next ......... when Nanny can get to town to buy one.

My wife dyes spots in my socks all the time they are little white spots. I really liked them best without them.

 

I love tie-dyeing!

When my boys were in elementary school I was the Room-mom for several years. We did tie-dyeing projects with their class. It was really fun--we made swirl patterns, and used several colors. They really enjoyed it. Made myself a couple of shirts, too. I don't wear them anymore, tho.:laugh:

 

No. When I die, it won't matter if I'm tied or not.

I love tie-dying!:love2: I have done it several times, and I also am trying to do my socks! Has anyone ever tried to do pants? (See, I'm trying to do a matching outfit: tie-dyed shirt, pants (or skirt), socks, hair elastic, possibly even shoes, if I can get some cheap white ones, only I'll do the laces, and splatter different colored paint on them instead of tie-dying them! :smilewinkgrin:
