Anyone using IE 7?

Sorry, I haven't try it, and won't.

I am a FireFox kinda guy...

I am generally just like you, but in this day and age of virus and such, I would rather have it update.

If I have a program and I check for updates, I found 9 times out of 10 I installed what they told me to, so I didn't see a reason to balk at the Firefox updates.

You can disable them if you wish:

Disable Firefox Updates


At least with Firefox, when they update their program it's for a reason and it generally works.. With M$ you play russian roulette each time..

Don't get so bent out of shape...

I have also been into computers since way before the web. I ran an very successful BBS in the Raleigh area for many years before the web came around, as we know it.

I also know that any company can release a bad patch, but I trust Firefox, and so far they haven't let me down. I can't say that for M$.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion in how they run things, I was only offering my suggestion and when you said you didn't like Firefox because of the updates, I found a site that offer a way to disable it.

It's your choice, I was only offering my opinion.:flower:

Firefox 1.5.0.6 allows you to choose to not check for updates, check for updates but wait for your approval, or download and install updates automatically. It's set at default to check for updates but wait for approval.

I find no major issues with FireFox except for the occasional copy and paste glitch, search prefetch glitch, and memory leaks (probably the worst of all issues).

But I appreciate the fact that it is truly open source and free. I'm slowly phasing out closed source applications in favor of open software, since I believe it's a great model for the future of software development.

So no. Haven't tried IE7, and probably won't unless I get a lappy with Vista on it.

I have IE7 installed on my old computer. I prefer FF.

 

Not that I want to really defend MS but...

Have any of those here who bash them all the time ever had a virus solely due to a MS IE glitch?

I have used IE and Firefox, Netscape, Opera and several others. In my humble opinion IE is great. Firefox has some interesting widgets but at the end of the day I always come back to IE. I find it solid, easy to use and the update process is very user friendly and easily controlled.

FF did the same job on me of downloading updates without my say so. Never was the option provided to not do the download. Maybe with their popularity there are crossing over to the dark side...

I like IE, especially version 7. Long live Microsoft and King Billy!
