Good evening -

Our reading in Judges tonight is, to say the least, disturbing. Again, bear in mind that these final chapters in Judges are an epilogue to a very formally written Book. The story of the Levite and his concubine is another illustration of how far the Israelis had fallen into moral decay. There is little doubt left in the readers minds that something has to be done. This is leading us up to the Books of Samuel after the very brief and much gentler Book of Ruth.

A significant point of note in Mark is that Christ is quoted as citing two seperate feedings of two seperate multitudes. This lays to rest any doubt of the two stories being confused as one.

In 1Corinthians Paul elaborates on what the gift of the Holy Spirit are all about. These are to be used to edify (build up) the church. They ae not for show or spectacle. This is where the Pentacostals fail in their interpretation, IMO. For those of you who have wondered about the Spiritual gift of tongues, verses 10 & 11 point towards the gift of tongues being the ability to speak foreign earthly languages.
