After watching an episode of Mick Dodge, my son and I decided we were going to get some primitive bows and conquer the forest. This impressive video has taken the wind out of my sails.

Aerobic archery. We packed 25-35# recurves everywhere we went as kids. As an adult I've killed several deer with an XI compound equipped w/overdraw set @ 80#. Never did run one down though, always had to climb a tree, sit real quiet, and ambush em' when they come along.... :)

...heheh, well, climbing a tree in the dark hour before daylight ain't exactly for the faint-hearted; for that matter coming down out of one in the dark ain't either.

Sure is an experience watching God 'turn on the light' at dawn though.

My Paternal Grandfather taught me three things: Fotboll, furniture-making, and the longbow. I brought one of his bows with me when I emigrated. Still have it in my den.

Did that for a few years on my Maternal Grandfather's land. Those autumn mornings are good memories.
