    Which one was better person?

Archie, the conservative racist who slammed everyone different but believed in God, or Michael, the liberal who cared for all people regardless of race, but was an agnostic?

My vote is for Michael Stivic, although the contrast between he and Archie was one of the things that made that show such a groundbreaker. There was no social topic too taboo for All In The Family. Everything from race relations to Edith's menopause, it was all fair game.

Hmmm. . . The hard-working family provider with an IQ of 12, or the unemployed self-righteous idealist?

    That's a tough call.

Oh bother, as Winnie the Pooh would say.

That's like deciding which did more good for the world, Charles Darwin or Adolph Hitler.

None of the above. Can I write in Winnie the Pooh on the ballot? He is a) cute b) cuddly c) likes honey

That was pretty crude, and definitely uncalled for. I think apologies are in order, Magnetic....

Helen, please grow a sense of humor. Gloria Struthers has packed on the pounds since her days as Gloria. I am sure she is a wonderful person. If you don't care for a post, just skip it.

a lot of us have packed on pounds. I am not without a sense of humor. I just don't find what you said to be funny. I find it to be demeaning. There are a number of people here on BB who would also require your 'wide screen TV'. Do you think they are laughing at your 'humor'?

Probably so, Helen. In fact, I have packed on a few extra myself. So again, time for you to quit being "Debbie Downer".
Again, if you don't like my posts, don't read them. Or put me on ignore. The comment was made in jest. Guess I hit a nerve. No one has appointed you as the "Humor Cop".

I vote for Edith, she had more character that Archie and Stivic combined.

I admit Helen, I'm about 5.6 and close to 350 pounds. I did chuckle when I saw his joke. Whenever I preach at a church I never preached at before, I usually step from behind the podium, open my coat and tell them to take a good look now so they are not trying to do so when I'm preaching. I usually get good laughs so it's a great ice breaker.

Be content with who you are, you were made in the image of GOD and the most beautiful part of any man can not be seen with the eyes or weighed on a scale.

I'm one of them. Since my transplant I gained 100 pounds. I had to have gastric bypass to save the kidney and so I have lost 115 and am only down to 185 standing at 5' 7"! Having said all this... I thought what magnetic said was hilarious! If you can't find humor in situations like weight problems then you wind up being depressed! No point in being overly sensitive about it...

Now as for the OP... I have to vote Edith as well. Gotta love that old dingbat!

See how these things go with us Baptist. We are asked to decide, that is, cast our vote between two persons and we can't simply do that. The question is too vague, or biased or there is not enough information. So we move away from the original question to.... Edith, Gloria...etc., etc.

My vote would be....dare I say it... Archie. Hey, we need more hard working guys committed to supporting their families and who are also brave enough to stick up for what they believe, even if they are wrong about some things or have their own faults. CAUSE... I think we're reaping the fruits of a lot of meatheads these days! :wavey:

Well, this is one plump sister who can laugh about that weighty issue in her life. Just yesterday, as a friend and I were passing the largest SBC church in a nearby town, you know the Emergent type, one that is going TBN very shortly(seriously), well, anyway, I told her I thought I could find a place there. I said, I could probably start a ministry for overweight women... I think I'll call it... "Fat and Happy in Jesus"... We both just laughed and laughed.

Got to have humor...this ole world is a sad, bad place... got to laugh a little... even at yourself!

Yep, my beautiful wife of nearly 33 years has battled weight problems all her life. She is the most beautiful woman in the world to me. I too battle it now, although when I was young, I could eat anything and stay rail-thin. Oh, for the days of youth!

Anyway, as a plump boy myself, I only made the joke to bring a smile to people's faces. No disrespect was intended to anyone, and I am glad to see the perponderance of people reading it took the comment as intended.

    God bless!
