There's no such thing as horoscopes. No one has the ability to tell the future at will. The articles you read in the paper are a buch of fabrications written sheerly for entertainment value. Most of the time, they even say so in a disclaimer.

Read 'em all you want. But the moment you start believing in them, it's time to raise a red flag. I myself have no use for them and never read them.

Anything that is not of righteousness is sin, including anything that detracts from the perfect will of God: horoscopes included.

Deuteronomy 18:10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, 11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

    I think it's wrong.

If anyone thinks that horoscopes in the newspaper are real, just save the paper a day, and then read it after the fact. You'll be surprised how random it is. Next, pick a horoscope for another person besides you, and read it. You'll find that these things are so generic and ambiguous that any one of them could apply to ano other person on any random day. Next, take two horoscopes from two separate papers, and read them side by side. You'll often find that they don't resemble each other.

Horoscopes that you read in the paper are of no value whatsoever, are a waste of time, and, imo, inappropriate for the Christian. However, if anyone claims to be able to tell your future, avoid that person, because scripture tells us to avoid such things.

Agree. Those things are made up a year in advance. I used to be a newspaper reporter and they were received WAY in advance.

Scripture says avoid it so avoid it.

About 2500 years ago, During the
    Babylonian captivity, the Jews encountered
    the Babylonian religion.
The "wise men" were of this Babylonian
religion. It was a religion that predicted
the future by the star signs under which
one was born. (it makes more sense to me
to use when the person was born. BTW,
the energy that all the stars together
shine on the earth for a year is about
the energy a person expends in one sneeze.
    Strange i don't see a religion based
    on sneezes [IMG] )

The precession of earth's axis in a 24,000
year cyle means that each 2,000 years
the year begins in a different star sign.
There have been two star sign changes since
the days of the Babylonian captivity.
All the start signs are now three symbols
out of wack with the real sky.

The latest change is in the 1980s
    when we went from
the Age of Pices to the Age of Aquarius.
To bad the astrologers are so out of
phase with the real universe [IMG]

Maybe when i retire i'll try a get
rich quick scheme. I'll have 12 veggies
that control person's fate and have
a daily comment about each one.
    Today, 11 January 2005, you Carrots :D
need to remember to take positive measures
to assure your three best friends stay
your three best friends (an attempt to
show how you feel will do wonders).

Our astrologer recently died. Funny how she didn't notify folks that it was coming ...

    Good stuff.

It is all a sham in the papers. If you don't like the one for your sign, pick the one you do like. Might be some good advice there.

On the serious side, I have talked with a few who take it seriously and these folks are not jokes. I only say this to remind us all that the Wise Men who came to Bethlehem were Astrologers.

And all you Carter/Clinton Haters and Reagan Lovers; Reagan let his wife consult Astrologers on a regular basis, yet no one complained.

    Disagree! Astronomers, not astrologers.

DavidFWhite3: "I only say this to remind us all that the Wise Men who came to Bethlehem were Astrologers."

    That is correct Brother DavidFWhite3.

The science of astronomy did not
    seperate from Pagan astrology until
    the Renascence (about 1400-1600).

Gib's always telling me cats are only good for Chinese food and then said he reads his fortune cookies. He's a cat hater!

I have a new kitty. [IMG]

A fun activity: Cut out the astrology advice column for a day and cut off the identifying sign. Then try to match the people around the table with the right horoscope predictions. See how far you are able to succeed!

Well, I don't think their success rates are very high.

If you're interested in the stars, use a telescope instead of a horoscope.
