The key phrase in your comment is

    "as they do"

Its not a matter of believeing in Jesus "as they do"---but one must believe in Jesus "as the Bible says"

The whole concept of the mormon religion is "another gospel"---in which the Scripture teaches that if any come with "any other gospel"---let that person be "anathama"---literally in the English---let him be damned!!

I agree with Blackbird. Mormons believe in a different Jesus and a different god. The only thing their jesus and our Jesus have in common is name.

Of course a Mormon would denie that it is another gosple, as in a different gospel. They would say it is another part of the same gospel.

You would then have to show the inconsistancies between the two. Then after that you have to show why they should believe the Bible to be more correct then the BOM or D&C.

The last time the missionaries were at the door. I asked them to compair something in the BoM to the Bible. When I asked them to open their Bible they looked at me with blank stares. I was shocked. I asked you dont carry a Bible! One of them said we have one in the car, around the block. They knew then they were not going to make a sale. I offered to give them a Bible, they refused.

Interestingly enough, however, when they advertise on TV their blurbs speak of "another revelation" of Jesus Christ. Awfully close to admitting it is "another gospel" -- which is, after all, no gospel at all. As with many sectarian groups, much more time seems to be spent on discussing the writings of the founders than the Scriptures themselves.

When Mormon missionaries come to my front door, I give them quite a fit when they learn what my name is!!

Your name kinda gives me a fit  You would be a very popular person here.

The problem is they are slick talkers. They would ask you if Mark was a different Gospel then Luke. You would of course say no they are the same gospel by two different writters. They would say, well the BoM is the same gospel by a different writter ment for a different dispensation.

My problem with that is Mark and Luke agree with each other they do not agree with the BoM. So I try to make the comparison.

    Matthew 24:4-5 KJV
[4] And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
[5] For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Seemingly, the most common interpretation to verse 5 I hear from others, is that it refers to false Messiahs who come proclaiming to be Christ.

But an additional meaning I read in verse 5 is that many shall come and proclaim Jesus is the Christ, but shall actually lead people astray (away from the gospel). In other words, they come proclaiming to be Christians, but do not have the full faith that saves. Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism -- not the one here in the BB, is one of these IMO. As there are false prophets and false christs, there are also false Christians.

Obviously, preterists might not agree with my verse reference as they will propose the Olivet Discourse referred to events in the past, but hopefully they will agree to the occult nature of Mormonism.

    Matthew 7:21 KJV
[21] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

The will of the Father is to believe in the Son, not to simply call Him your Lord, but believe in the gospel He brought. As has already been stated: The Mormon Jesus is not the Jesus of the Bible.

Having grown up with a Mormon father and lots of Mormon family, I have to say no. I knew from a fairly early age that it just didnt sit right in my heart as I had to attend church there. God created us to be able to distinguish the truth.
Problem is, many claim that they dont believe those weird things, and in reality, they actually may not, as the church reveals doctrines as the person is "ready" to accept them. But I still have to say no to the OP question.

'Preciate that!! To me, one of the strangest of Mormon doctrines is that of baptism for the dead. True, there is an obscure illusion to that in the New Testament, but it is not developed and never became a Christian practice. But just think ... the LDS folks have spent gazillions of dollars building family history centers and compiling genealogical research, all to facilitate baptisms that supposedly free ancestors for some sort of heaven. What kind of God dishes out salvation for the dead on the basis of someone still alive doing research and then undergoing a ritual? Boggles the mind ...

But if she is Mormon she does not believe that Jesus is God and she does not believe that His death was enough to fully save her without her own good works.

Just wait until you find out that you've been sanctified and baptized by the Mormons ~~ and you had nothing to do with it.

She told me that she believes that Jesus Died on the Cross for us, not that He didn't.

I don't think that was meant for you faithgirl... I think it was a general statement...

Faithgirl, ask your friend if she believes Jesus was God. That is the defining factor. If she doesn't, she don't believe in the correct Jesus.

So even if she believes he died for her, it would be useless if she doesn't believe He is God.

The Mormons believe Jesus is the brother of Lucifer and therefore an angel. This would make him a created being and not God at all. Your friend is putting her trust in the wrong Christ which cannot save her.

All Mormons say this. But they also believe that Jesus saves them "after all they have done." It's Jesus plus works.

Also, their Jesus is not the Jesus of the Bible. They deny the Trinity, for one thing. Jesus is one of God's spirit children (and by "God" they mean the God of this universe; they believe there are many Gods out there) as is Satan (whom I think they call Lucifer). So Jesus and Lucifer are both spirit children of God. In fact, you and I are also spirit children of God, birthed by God and his wife. I am not making this up.

They believe God was once a man and that he has a body.

Mormons are trained to present their beliefs sounding as Christian as possible. They believe they have the truth but their beliefs are very gnostic in many ways and they believe there is more than one god. They believe that good Mormon men will one day rule his own world as a god.

To be clear Mormons believe that Jesus, God, man, lucifer and angles are the same kind of creature. They believe that we are all a family. They believe that god the father was a man who lived on an earth like place where he (god) was a sinfull creature. He went to heaven where he became god. He had kids (they believe in mother gods, gods eternal wifes that he married before he died) jesus was first, Lucifer was second we all were somewere after but all brothers and sisters. So they not only believe that jesus is lucifers brother, they believe that we are brothers to jesus and lucifer.

They use the term angel as another word for spirit. SO we would all be angels when we die. They believe we have a grandfather god and a great grandfather god and so on and so on forever back.
