Just wondering,I am a home maker and have been for almost 10 years. I have 2 daughters and decided(with my husband's leadership,of course) from God's Word that staying home would be right and best. I did teach Elem school before children. What did you do before staying home? Do you have plans of working outside the home in the future? Do any of you work now?

    Hi Molly!

I have been a stay at home mom for one year and 5 months now. Before I got saved (1997) I thought staying home wasn't for me, so I didn't. After I got saved, I felt God's leading in that direction, but I ignored it. Of course, He knows what is best, so I finally gave in to Him and realized that He had given me the desire to stay home when I didn't have it before! I wouldn't trade it for the world...I'm now getting geared up to homeschool my daughter who will be in 1st Grade next school year. It's really amazing the way God has completely changed my life! Less than 2 years ago, I was in the rat race and climbing the corporate ladder in the legal field (and doing quite well, if I may say so myself LoL) and now here I am a stay at home mother of 2 beautiful daughters and NO DESIRE whatsoever to go back to work! Praise the Lord!

I use to work in my fathers cabenit shop. I also worked part-time as a CNA. When my father got sick I stopped my part-time job to help him finish the work in his cabenit shop before he had to have cemotherapy. I found out I have MS not long after my father started his treatments. I desided to stay home because with the stress of my fathers illness, my problems, tax resonse, and most of all because of my children. I probably will go back to work one day. For now, I am happy at home and feel that is where God wants me to be.

Hi! I am the proud stay at home mama of a precious 13 month old girl with another one coming in a few months! I have never stayed at home before - we have been married 7 years, and I have always worked and gone to school. I finished my Masters degree in December, just a few weeks before our baby was born. It has been quite a transition for me to stay home now, but I think I have the best of both worlds. I am teaching private music lessons 2 days a week, and a teenager girl from church comes to babysit in exchange for free lessons. When my kids are older, I certainly want to go back to school and teach on the college level. But for now, I am trying to bloom where God has planted me.

I've been a stay-at-home Dad for 3 1/2 years. That's why I sneak over to this forum on occasion to share ideas. [IMG]

I am a wannabe stay at home single with no man to support me. But my cat and I have a great time.

I must bring home the bacon, but I prefer sausage usually.

Someday when I marry and bear children, I will stay at home.

I am a mother of a 12 year old daughter. I have always worked outside the home.

My husband and I want our daughter to understand that she needs to be able to support herself well. She may wait until she is older before she marries, or she may never marry. She may someday find herself in a position to be the only wage earner in her family. She may choose to stay home if she has children. We want her to be prepared for whatever God has in store for her.

When my husband returned to the Navy (after a 2 year time away from it), we were in unity that we felt the Word directs a married woman to be at home. So I've been at home for 20 years, and love it.
I'm no bon-bon eating, soap opera watching woman at home, tho'; as most of you are not, too. It isn't just the dusting or the gardening that keeps me busy, either.
With home school & being my husband's secretary I have what is equal to 2: 3/4 time jobs! So I have to pray for wisdom & balance.
Saggy, I pray you get your heart's desire soon.

I'm a sahm also. I did work at our Christian
School for a couple of years. I have a 15 yr old
daughter that has a learning problem and home schooling seems to be the best for her. She does much better at home than a traditional school setting.

I am working woman. God hasn't given us children, but we know if we had them one of us would stay home. I gave up on hoping to have children (we got married late in our lives) but Squire didn't. So far we cannot afford to adopt.
    God Bless,
    Anna G. ;)

I have always been a wife/mother that stayed home and cared for our children (3) and my husband. My husband has always worked shift work, 12 hours days/nights. In 2000, our last one graduated from high school and that same summer he left for Basic Training in the Marine Corp. I thought at the time I would try to find a small part time job of some sort, just because a lot of my time would be free from all the school and youth activities. But the more my husband and I thought about this, the more it just didn't seem right. My husbands work schedule is such: 4 nights/always Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. Off Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. 3 days/always Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Off Monday. 3 nights/always Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Off Friday, Saturday, Sunday. 4 days/always Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Off Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. With 12 hour days at work, he has no time for anything but eating and sleeping. It seems to me that women believe that after they have raised the children that their is no one left to care for, not so, I still have my husband. If he worked a NORMAL job with NORMAL hours, I can see where I could find a part time job. And who knows, at some point in time, God may open up a job that would fit perfectly with my husbands job.

Sue, I'm glad I'm not the only one whse stilla t home, even though the kids are grown. My husband likes to have me here taking care of him. Which I couldn't do very well if I had a job. He also wants to be the one who provides for our needs. We feel this is biblical. God sent Adam out to work, not so Eve. We feel called to obey God in this. I will probably always be at home. He needs to know that he is my provider. And I will let him.

I agree katie. Even though both of my girls are in school,I can not imagine working mainly because there is so much to do at home....I feel that resposiblty and I feel God gave it to us women for a reason. I would not want the idea of me submitting to another man, like a boss either. Call me old fashion, but I feel I will be home for a while. But,you know I love every minute of it,there are times I think, wouldn't it be fun to work part time somewhere just to get out and do other things, but then I realize,I am right where I need to be,I can't allow anything else to be a priority over my family, and it could happen so easily.

I to am a stay-at-home Mom. Sometimes I struggle at whether I'm doing the right thing especially when most of the women that I know are not, they are full time working women. It can be hard sometimes because they look at me as if I have no life, sometimes it hurts, and sometimes I really get down. But God through His wonderful love and understanding reassures me that I am right where I need to be. An example is that my youngest daughter right now as I write this is on the couch with a fever and bad headache, and I know that she will probably not be going to school tomorrow.....this is where my comfort from God comes in, I know that I, not someone else will be here to take care of her. Don't get me wrong I have no problem with women that work, some have no choice and some perfer to, I am talking about my own personal convictions and I'm reminded through things like this why I need to be right here at home. If I'm not making any sence please forgive me, I'm a little under the weather myself right now, but just thought I'd share why I feel the need to stay at home....Biggest reason...my family needs me...and I'm here 24/7.

God has not given us children but if we did have them, I would absolutely be a stay at home mom. I think that it is very important to do. I admire those of you who are able to do this and pray for you to have strength, patience and the ability financially to continue doing so (along with time for the Lord, your husband, and periodic "me" time to regroup  )

    God bless, --Vicki

ForYourGlory, I know exactly what you are talking about with friends or other women that work outside of home. It can make you feel funny about your choice. But it is likely that some of these women wish they could stay at home too. Don't let comparing yourself to other women bring you down because it's not that you couldn't work outside of the home but that you choose not to. What you are providing your family can not be compared to homes where both parents work. [IMG]
