We bought and have used cloth bags for a couple years, but quite consistently, I forget to take them with me. This is a good reminder, although even when I remember, I forget to actually take them in the store.

But I'd bet anything that if I had to pay for the plastic bags, I'd be remembering the cloth ones a whole lot more! They're so cheap to buy...only one dollar out here, and I haven't had one wear out or break on me in two years. (then again maybe they would if I remembered them more)

 

I have been meaning to buy a cloth bag. I've seen them around in Walmart, Publix,etc., but just haven't bought one. Now it's on my list as a reminder.

I bought 5 yesterday at Wal-Mart for $1.00 each and I was very surprised at how much each one of them held!

The plastic bags I do have, I recycle by using them as bags in our many wastebaskets throughout the house. They won't blow around as much as empty ones when put in the trash.

I always ask for paper at the stores that have them, but from now on, it's cloth for me!

I also have a mesh bag that I can use when going clothes shopping. I keep my crocheting in it, but they are so cheap to buy, I'm going to get a couple more of them.

 

I'm not into green or anything, but I just couldn't take those little animals. So I'll be buying a few cloth bags too. Wonder if their responsible for the video, lol.
How many items it will hold is going to depend on if you bag or the store bags your items. If they it will hold 2 or 3 items. If I do, It'll hold everything, only need one, lol.

 

My husband said no to the bags.

About 4 years ago here Ireland was the island of plastic bags. Volunteerism didn't work so the government put 15c (about 20 US cent) levy on every plastic bag. Today the levy is 22c (about 30 US cent).

Problem solved, almost overnight. No more plastic bags .

 

As some here may know, I have a small wool shop in my town. When I took over about 18 months ago, there were a few plastic bags in the shop purchased by the previous owner. I used them for rubbish containers, and have been making cloth bags out of material pattern books, kindly donated (after much scrounging on my behalf) by a local soft furnishing store. I charge £1 for them and donate it all to the Wales Air ambulance which is a much needed service here in Wales and who run on donations only. They have received well over £100 from this effort, it would be more , only most of my regular customers re-use them, for grocery shopping and return visits to my shop,which is a good thing.
