Arminianism Covenant Theology?

Can Arminians hold to CT? Is there something inherent to CT that makes it Calvinistic? For it seems that both Calvinists and Arminians ( or Traditionalism) can hold to dispensationalism, yet it seems when it comes to CT it is only Calvinist.

What did Arminians hold to prior to dispensationalism?

Any information would be appreciated .

I would think they could. Dispensationalism was at first unique to Calvinism. I don't see why Arminians would not also be able to share in CT.

Prior to Dispensationalism I suspect (like Calvinists who hold neither CT or Dispensationalism) they did not necessarily restrict themselves to understanding God's interaction with man through either.

Both Dispensationalism and CT are frameworks of human origin imposed on scripture that scripture can well do without. I'm always of the mind set "less parts" = less to go wrong.

Covenants are mention 300 times in Scripture, & our Bibles are divided into Old & New Testaments/Covenants. Everyone who holds to a system of Scripture interpretation must hold to CT in some form.

Essentially a Covenant is God's dealings with man by a promise, in an oft-repeated form of the relationship -
I will be your God & you will be my people.
I don't see how that can be contentious, nor confined within any particular system of theology.

See e.g. Jer. 31, Zec. 2, Eze. 36 & 37, 2 Cor. 6, Hebrews 8, Rev. 21.

CT rtheology is the one of the scriptures though, at least in regards to how God worked out His plan of salvation!

very hard to have an Arminian hold to CT, because the theology supposses that there is an ternal Covenant of Grace, and the saved would be in the COG die to the divine will of God, not their own choosing of Jesus. otherwards, the view of Election in CT would disagree with the Forknowledge view held by Arminians!

indeed everyone must see the use of covenants throughout the bible.

CT refers more to the overarching Covenants ( works and Grace)

Is election crucial to CT? or can you have CT with Arminian Theology?

Their Election is usually either God elects the plan of salvation, he elected the Church as the body, but we decide to get into it, or else he elects based upon knowing that we will amke the right decision. none of those seem tobe able to fit into Election as most CT would see it as being!
