Yes, there probably will be some sort of pork barrel agency set up to pass out the stacks of tax money. That agency will be with us until the end of the world. Look at rural electrification--it was a special agency to bring electricity to farmers. All farms have had electricity for 70 years or so but we still have the agency.

It will cost a lot more than 200 billion. It will cost a trillion.

The walls will be built high enough to withstand anything.

New Orleans will not sacrifice any neighborhoods to flood control. All areas of New Orleans will be reclaimed. It would be racism not to do so will be the political problem.

The federal government will have to do it all. The locals will just put the money in their bank accounts and not lift a finger for reconstruction. At least that is the way it works in Indiana.

Powell will not be sent down there. The GOP is happy to have him retired. I think that they should put Frist down there and bury his political future that way. Whoever is sent down there will be tore up by the Democrats. We don't have an engineer-politician-humanitarian like Herbert Hoover anymore. Do we even have a politician who is an engineer? Most of them are just lawyers.

We could sent all our lawyers down there to clean up the mud. They are experts at picking it up and throwing it. There will be a million lawsuits out of this disaster.

It might be cheaper just to move the mints and the treasury to New Orleans.

It is my opinion that not one penny of Federal taxpayer money should be spent to rebuild New Orleans below sea level. i have communicated this to my Senators and representative, not that it will do any good.

Hopefully enough of the people who have left NO will stay out to limit such rebuilding.

It has to be done because it is a major port and a major center of energy supplies. Personally, I look for the federal government to rebuild the casinos along the shore. New Orleans will be rebuilt along the lines of Holland and it will cost a lot more than the laughable 200 billion figure. They have already thrown 60 billion out the window with no idea of where it will go or where it has gone. The presses will have to run overtime to print all the money for this binge. Now they are talking about paying everyone's rent for 6 months. There will be some big-shot landlords driving brand new luxury cars and not worrying about the price of gas in the least.

But the environmentalist will still not allow a new refinery to be built.

This country ain't ready for reform. Washington DC is totally corrupt and Bush is helpless to fix it because his own party is in on it.
