Babbitt Tried to Stop Attack on Capitol Speaker's Lobby, Video Shows

Ashli Babbitt, who was fatally shot by a police officer at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, desperately tried to prevent rioters from vandalizing the doors leading to the Speaker’s Lobby at the Capitol that day, even stepping between one troublemaker and officers guarding the doors, a video footage analysis shows.
...
Video clips appear to show she tried to prevent the attack, not join it.
Video footage shot by John Sullivan, also known as Jayden X, shows that Babbitt tried to stop the violence against the Speaker’s Lobby at least four times before she climbed into a broken window and was fatally shot by U.S. Capitol Police Lt. Michael Byrd. At one point, she was so distressed at the violence, she jumped up and down in frustration.
...
“About five minutes prior to her getting shot and killed, all of those officers, Officer Yetter and the other officers in the hall, the MPD cops, they were all joking with her and laughing with her,” Hansen said. “They were having conversations and joking and laughing. Then not even five minutes later, Michael Byrd comes and executes her.”
Babbitt confronted rioter Zachary Alam, leaning in between him and one of the police officers guarding the doors. Alam turned away from Babbitt and punched a window to the side of the officer’s head. Babbitt winces just before Alam strikes the window with his right hand. He later uses a helmet to smash the tempered glass.
An audio analysis of video footage taken in the hallway reveals that Babbitt shouted, “Stop! No! Don’t! Wait!” according to her husband, Aaron Babbitt.
...
Babbitt feared for her life, her husband said, so she climbed into the broken window to escape. Byrd shot her before she got more than partway into the window frame.
“The only way we’d ever know why Ashli felt the window was the only way out is if she had been detained by one of the countless police officers that abandoned their post in front of those doors,” Babbitt said. “That did not happen. She was murdered and robbed of the chance to tell her side of the story.”

She was not executed or murdered. The LEO had no way of knowing any of what was stated. All he knew was rioters had broken into the chamber where congressional members were located and someone was attempting to gain access. Tragic but justified.

There were multiple people trying to get in, he shot just her, and then ran away. It was not a justified shooting, nor was his or anyone else's life in immediate danger (except for hers). Aside from the fact that there were armed officers behind her as well and they clearly weren't concerned.

Your statement contradicts the info in the story. The story says the police had abandoned that area and she was attempting to escape a dangerous man by crawling through the window that had just been shattered.

She was the only one that attempted to crawl through the window and into the chamber.

I give LEO’s the benefit of the doubt concerning such issues. You claim no ones life was in danger. That is nonsense. Some were making death threats, including threatening to hang the VP.

No murder. Tragic but justified.

You are usually right on the money in most of your posts; but this time you have erred greatly. There was certainly no reason that justified her murder. Byrd needs to be put under arrest for her murder. But as crooked as things are in D.C. that will not likely happen. Byrd is the only one who killed somebody. None of the participants shot a firearm.

Here is the thing, was the shooting wrong? Yes. BUT, it never would have happened if she was not there in the first place. So no, don't say her name. She is no more a hero than George Floyd

You're comparing her to Floyd? The hyper criminal? That analogy is way off-base.

It is not off base. She was in the middle of committing a crime. She, ultimately, is responsible for her own death, just like Floyd. She shouldn't have been there, she was not compelled to be there, nobody forced her to be there. She decided to break the law and it ended badly.

We should demand justice for her because she is an image bearer of God who was murdered. Hardly comparable to George Floyd.

Hero, No. Innocent, Yes. The Capitol police let these people in - but nothing has happened to them. This was all orchestrated for a reason by our leaders. But could you really expect better from people who have sanctioned and praised the murder of children in the womb?

When LEO’s train in the use of deadly force, there are different levels of threats that justify the use of deadly force, I’m certain you already know that.

One “threat” is “overwhelming numbers” even if no deadly weapons are present. I believe the LEO’s stated justification was overwhelming numbers. Had she been allowed in, then overwhelming numbers could have poured into the chamber. That clearly endangered the lives inside.

Tragic but justified.

Thanks for the kind words.

I watched that section. There is no doubt the elites are pushing a narrative against conservatives.

That does not change the facts around her death. A mob was smashing windows attempting to gain access to the chamber where Congress was meeting. She crawled through the window, potentially unleashing a wave of violent people in the chamber.

The LEO made the decision lives were in danger and shot her.

Tragic but justified
