From another thread, someone mentioned "going forward" and praying as to WHEN they got saved.

Just wondering. I have made decisions (not salvation in this case) where the decision was made in my seat BEFORE I ever took the first step to respond to the invitation.

In other words, did you get saved "at the altar", when you prayed, as you walked, in your pew, etc? Guess this would only relate to folks who got saved in a church service.

    Thanks.

I was saved in the pew, just as I realized who Jesus really is.

I was saved at the age of 9 in a small bible class led by our pastor. The next Sunday I walked down the aisle to tell the church and join the church.

I heard the message at a local baptist church, but it didn't hit me till I was at home that evening. I was saved in my room, on my knees by the grace of God.

I believe I was saved on my knees during an alter call while Praying with my Pastor and my wife. My youngest son accepted Christ in our home but made his profession of faith at the next alter call in our Church.

I was stitting in the pew with my head bowed as I felt the awesome presence of God. At that point I KNEW who he was and what he had done for me some 2000 years ago at Calvary. I wanted to walk down that asile and tell everyone what had happened, but the alter call had absoutly nothing to do with me accepting the gift that had been given me.

I was saved in the Catholic church [IMG] . I had been attending the Catholic Church, studying with JW's. They made me really look at the Catholic religion, so I did. And the Lord opened my eyes. Problem was, I joined them (JW's) before I saw that they were a lie. [IMG]

I was a 'church baby' and spent my childhood going there everytime the doors were opened and sometimes when they were not, I practiced on the youth room piano.

Baptized about 9 with my friends, feeling that I would make a pretty good member of Jesus' 'team'.

I was 24 and teaching a class of 14 year old girls. I was studying my Sunday School lesson at home when I came to the horrible (blessed) realization that I was a sinner and that my sins were on Him when He was on the cross.

It took awhile for me to realize that I had really never trusted Jesus as my only hope of Salvation apart from any good that I could do.

I knelt by my bed and confessed that to God and that Sunday Night, I told the church about it and wanted to be baptized 'on the right side of the Cross'.

I was saved during church when the pastor had the invitation, and I felt that urge to accept the Lord into my heart. I rememer the moment. I remember how I felt the instant before and the instant after. I wish I had been looking at my watch. [IMG]

I was saved in High School. A Catholic priest told me I needed to accept Jesus into my heart as my personal Lord and Savior.

If you believe the story I used to tell, I was saved in the closet. My mom asked me if I wanted to ask Jesus into my heart and since I liked to be in the closet and went in there and did it. Whether or not any of that is true I simply can't remember.

Growing up in a Christian home, it is difficult to tell when I truly trusted Jesus for my salvation. One thing I know, I trust Him now!, and so where it actually happened in the past isn't so important to me. I'm 24 now, and I can definitly trace a lot of spiritual maturity through my college and back through my high school years, but before that it is all a blur.

I think what a lot of the anti alter call people don't reconize is that a lot of people are saved before going forward, and then some are realy saved when they get there, they know about Jesus, and want to commit their lives to Him, not a lot of preachers are going to let you get by not repenting.

At the point of hearing the Gospel and realizing I was lost, I repented and asked for forgivness. Of course I didn't understand what was happening unitl I went to the "altar", and the pastor explained it. At that point I confessed the Lord as my Savior. :D

In a class on Sunday evening. Then during the service, I went to the front to tell every body.

I was born (the first time) into a genuine Christian family, attending a genuine Christian church. So, I had heard and believed (thought it was true) what I was told about spiritual matters. At least, I believed it in my head, but not in my heart. It wasn't so much that I wanted to do things MY way, but I just didn't want to do things HIS way. One night after I had been married about six weeks, I was lying in bed and felt a very common (to me) conviction of the Holy Spirit to turn my life over to God and let Him be in charge of it. I "gave up" and asked Jesus to come into my heart and save me. The very first thing I did was tell my wife about it. I was saved the instant I "gave up", even before I said the words. At that very instant, I repented of my way, I went from, is essence, saying, "no...no...no...", to, "OK". I was lost and one millisecond later I was saved. Wow, what a moment.

I was saved a the age of seven at a Free Will Baptist Church in Athens. Thankfully, I had great and supportive parents that helped me along after that.

Im not aware that there are ANTI- alter call people out here?!?! What does that mean exactly?
I was saved in my home in my room after hearing the gospel from a dentist I used to work for.
I used to think, because I was not walking with the Lord (backslidden) that I was not really saved. But sometimes I think it just takes people longer to bear fruit than others. Did you know it takes 8 years for a palm tree to produce its first fruit?
    Just a thought

  20. I was saved on Sept. 20 1997. I was under Holy Ghost conviction, I had heard preaching in a good sound Fundamental Baptist church all my life, I saw myself a sinner on his way to hell, I had made professions and been baptised ,but something was different this time. God in His grace looked down to where I was and had mercy on me. I called on His name as Romans Ch.10 teaches. I don't remember all the words I spoke but I can tell you of a change and a peace in my life that was not there before. You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart. And its all been by His mercy and His grace. Without Him i would still be lost and without hope ,but thanks to Jesus I have peace. What do I have to glory in save in the cross of Christ.
