    Recently in an attempt, I guess to be funny. Avl1984 called me a "milque toast" Christian. It was a joke he posted a smiley face. I pressed him for a definition. He finally gave me one.

    He said it was basically a lukewarm Christian. Joke or no Joke that ain't funny. He repeatdly called me inmature.....He has told me to grow up and even talked about other posters in private messages. I am the babe and the one that needs to grow up.

    I just really would like to get some Christian counsel on how to deal with some one who makes you mad.

    I see nothing wrong with a Christian saying, "I don't find that funny, and I don't find it Christ like, and I would appreciate an apology."

    I'm not taking sides, only suggesting a biblical resolution.

    You ask:I just really would like to get some Christian counsel on how to deal with some one who makes you mad.

    “If your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother. Matthew 18:15 NAS

    1. Go to the person who offended you privately.

    “But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every fact may be confirmed.
    Mt 18:16 NAS

    2. Privately go to the brother with others (suggestion, don't stack the deck with your friends...probably a moderator in this bulletin board situation).

    “If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. Matthew 18:17 NAS

    3.Tell it to the board and ask for mediation. ...or put him on your ignore list.

    Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted.
    Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.
    For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
    But each one must examine his own work, and then he will have reason for boasting in regard to himself alone, and not in regard to another.
    For each one will bear his own load.
    The one who is taught the word is to share all good things with the one who teaches him.
    Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.
    For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
    Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.
    So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.
    Galatians 6:1-10 NAS

    4. Be careful how you approach others, a gentle and humble approach works better.

    You catch more flies with honey than vinegar 2 Hezekiah 3:16 ;)

    Mt 26:63a
    But Jesus kept silent.

    Mr 14:61a
    But He kept silent and answered nothing.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I was once accused of saying something was in the Bible or often quoting a certain supposed scripture and to prove my innocence, I went through over 20,000 of my posts, quoting anytime I had used key words. Even then, I didn't get an 'opps... must have been someone else'.
    I wasted so much time trying to prove myself 'right' when I should have remained silent and allowed those who have discernment to judge for themselves.
    Patrick, those from the north have a completely different sense of humor than those in the south. I'm a southerner married to a northern man so I've learned their remarks are in general, attempts at being funny.
    .................... [IMG]
    Grow up is a very common expression I use with the kids when they fuss over things that don't really matter. When they won't let it go, I call them immature.
    Milk toast (milque toast) actually means bland or inoffensive. [IMG] A smiley should have encouraged you to 'let it go!'
    Actually, the term milquetoast was coined from an old radio show, where a character named "Casper Milquetoaste" was well known for not being able to make a stand about anything for fear of being insulting to any particular party. He was unable to make a stand - much like our politicians in D.C. I believe it was in a comic setting. Must have been a funny radio show.
    Well Actually... Caspar Milquetoast
    Caspar Milquetoast was a comic strip character created by Harold Webster in 1924 for his comic strip The Timid Soul, published in the New York World. From this character the term "milquetoast" has come to mean "weak and ineffectual." Webster continued to produce the comic strip until his death in 1952, after which his assistant Herb Roth carried it on for another year.
    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm -
    That brings us back to Patrick's remarks then, because 1) Patrick isn't timid about Christ, 2) Patrick isn't weak or ineffectual and 3) It is kind of rude for a Christian to all a Christian that.
    Patrick, email the poster who called you this privately and ask for an apology. If he gives one, forgive him.
    There is really some good advise here. For a guy I'm pretty emotional and when I get angry I forget most of what I am supposed to remember on how to deal with that issue.
    But one thing that I almost never do is step back and read the post over and over until I can answer it calmly. And that is the best way to handle it ....... by not giving it a knee-jerk reaction.
    Let me add something here. Apparently Patrick is a trouble maker in his own right. Posting what is posted in private messages is unethical. I did offer an apology, and even gave "Patrick" an explanation. If he has a problem with me, fine...I don't have a problem with that. If he was offended, I apologized. He has been combative with me in the past and has continued to be so. He claims to be a "minister" of the gospel, and I would have to say that if he is, I would find it hard to sit under his ministry. His lack of ethics here has been proof of his being a "novice" in Christ. Sorry..if it's not a popular opinion with ya'll...take it or leave it. I won't apologize for this post....Period. If the moderators or Administrators feel it should be removed, please do so. "Patrick" if you wish to contact me BrotherTony@isp.com....
    Talk about judgmental....... "troublemaker"??? "combative"???
    "novice"??? And I thought I was sensitive..... :rolleyes:
    What's the scriptural procedure again for confronting a brother in Christ??? Take it to him first privately; and if he doesn't receive it, then go again to him with several others, to reaon with him; and finally take it before the larger group out in the open.
    I'm thinking you might've missed a step in there somewhere.
    hey! HEY!!! You sayin' we're not funny??!! [removing earrings] Let's take this outside, Lady!!!
    :D
    Just kidding. (but, seriously...was THAT funny?) Naw, I'm still just kidding. [COUGH!]let me know when I'm being funny, m'kay?[COUGH!]
    I've been to the south a couple times until my FIL lost his home in a hurricane. He still lives there, but there's no room for us any more. That room has a tree laying in the bed.
    I have to say that being in Alabama was like the difference between night and day. I felt comfortable being around strangers (they are my husband's relatives...I'm related, but didn't know them from Adam). I am usually freaked out about being around people I don't know...like being thrown in a pit of bulldogs. But, the south was different. I found myself relaxing and enjoying their conversation. I can't put my finger on it...if i could, I'd write a book and convert to southernism.
    [COUGH!]however when the time came to my fil asking us to move down there-most expenses paid-we turned it down because our internet cable doesn't reach that far[COUGH!] Hey, don't throw stones! I have a business to think of! [IMG]
