attorney hints Winkler not alone in scam

    New York banking laws prevent that type of check-kiting. If you deposit a check, the funds are not available for withdraw until after the check clears - sometimes, waaay after - five days for out of state checks, I don't know how long for out of the country checks.

    Are Tennessee banking laws different?

    I depends on the bank. My family and I were just discussing this issue. With my bank, Regions, you are only allowed to withdraw $200 max on a check desposited. Other banks in the area could have no regulations. (apparently so....)
    We need some laws here, it is quite obvious from this murder.

    So let's see if I have this straight. We watch a movie together as a family, put the kiddies to bed, then go get a shotgun and load it (surely it wouldn't have been kept loaded in a house with children, we wouldn't think), then we proceed to shoot our husband in the back over a financial scam? Surely there is more to this than meets the eye. If not, it is premeditated cold blooded murder.

    From what they are showing, Lady Eagle, she had been on the phone the previous day with the bank for a lengthy time over the check kiting. I'm "guessing" that her husband finally found out about what his wife was doing and there was more than likely a huge argument the night before the murder. The paper indicated they argued most of the night prior to the murder. And, according to the paper, he kept a loaded shot gun in the closet in their bedroom. So, they argued, a good bit of the night...she loaded her kids in the van the next morning....and pulled the gun out of the closet and shot him in the back. That's all we know at this point where we live....we're not far away from Selmer where this occurred. It's in the paper almost every day here if anything happens at all new on the case.
    Sad, but true.
