Awesome Act of Creation

Man never created a thing. Only God can create. Create means taking nothing and making something. Man invents, discovers, authors, but never creates. What is amazing to me is the true meaning of the word "nothing." I do not believe the human mind can wrap itself around the term. We might think of "nothing" as floating out in space with just black to see and a few glimmering stars. The stars are something and so is the space and time you occupy. So my question is, can anyone paint an accurate picture of "nothing" or is it really beyond our words? To me, when describing it, time and space are not present.

SN, in mathematics we have a couple of designations for "nothing".

1. { } the empty set, or null set
2. Undefined ( result of division by zero) of course God CAN divide by zero.

As for "creation". I feel God has endowed us with a sense of wonder and curiosity which leads to "creations and inventions". Certainly, we do not possess HIS ability to create ex-nihlio, since anything and everything we do is indeed working with the constituents of the universe that HE created from "nothing". But from OUR perspective, there is a sense that we can say things have been "created" by man.

You are very good at taking math and science and using it in harmony with Scripture. I wanted to get your take on this. It is a slightly different question than "what is nothing?"

It came from a question about where heaven is. Some say it is in an infinitely higher dimension. I heard what I thought was a great way to explain the division of dimensions. This idea comes from an idea explaining the 2nd and 3rd dimensions. We know what it is like to live in the 3rd dimension. If we wanted to communicate with some life living in the 2nd dimension, it would go something like this.

A life form living in the 2nd dimension would essentially, for ease of understanding, would live on something like a piece of paper, if we can ignore the thickness of the paper. Now, it you or I, in the 3rd dimension, wanted to communicate with this person, say, stuck our fingers through the paper, the life form in the 2nd dimension would see five small circles formed by our fingers intersecting with the paper. Imagine our fingers going through the paper and leaving a circle for each finger that went through the paper. Anyway, the life form would think we looked like five small circles. That is not quite what we look like. So, if we imagine the Lord trying to show Himself DOWN to a 3rd dimension from where HE sits, well, one can imagine how distorted our idea of Him would be, based on the example I gave.

LOL, please do not send the men in the white coats after me, but I did hear this example once in a Sunday School lesson. Do you think it has any value?
