For those of us talking about it for migraines and in case there are others who couldn't find it.

I went to buy some today and couldn't find it, so I asked if it had another name and the pharmacist told me it was riboflaven.

Which they still didn't have. LOL

I ended up getting a B complex vitamin instead, as he told me I'd have to go to a major health food store that's not in our area because nobody around here carries it by itself. I was surprised to find that the complexes had anywhere from 500 to over 5,000% of the recommended daily amount, so I chose the one with the lower amount.

Anyhooooo...if I wasn't the only one who didn't know that, now you do to. :flower:

Yep - I ordered it from Drugstore.com the first time but I found it in CVS this time. I take 400 mg. a day for the migraines along with 400 mg. of magnesium and it's working!

I'll have my first real test in about two weeks.

I figured on taking it every few days at first, maybe every other day eventually. I don't understand why they have such high percentages in them.

Once I looked up the foods that have B2 in them, it really explains why I get such intense cravings for soy and seafood around the same time as a migraine. HMMMM

Well, the percentages are the recommended daily allowance (RDA) and in many vitamins, these numbers are quite low. There is no need to worry about taking too much because like Vitamin C, it's a water soluble vitamin and any extra is excreted in your urine. :)

They used to sell Vegemite at a store out here a few years ago, but then I was told the government made it illegal. I don't know if it was the sodium content or other concerns.

Shock Horror! Did they really!!! Surely as an Aussie I could claim cultural exemption or something:eek::eek::eek:

Here in New Zealand the manufacture of Marmite....a weak insipid copy of the true blue put roses in every cheek Vegemite is almost impossible to obtain because the rollicking roller coaster ride that is Christchurch has put the factory out of operation.

No fear Briony, I looked it up and found out it was being considered, but looks like it never went through...they're on a kick with banning foods here because of high sodium, fat, or sugar content, but they pick and choose the silliest things.

For example, some place in New York is trying to ban large sized soda drinks because they're unhealthy. I used to buy a large sized one and split it between four of us. If I can't find the tiny cans in the store, which they normally don't sell, I won't waste my money because I can't drink that much!

They also tried banning one fast food place from putting toys in kids meals. LOL Apparently, it contributes to childhood obesity. I wasn't aware they were eating the toys! :tongue3:

However, you should see what many public schools serve for lunch and call healthy. It's a joke that the government does this (did you read about them considering pizza a vegetable?) but want to micro-manage what parents give and blame THEM.

I always thought it amusing when I worked in a private hospital in the ICU which was predominately cardio-thoracic surgery (bypass surgery and stuff). If I went to the dining room (admittedly rare) the offerings were predominately deep fried stuff....I asked if I got a cardiac surgery discount if I bought it. The staff who served me was not amused.

Oh incidentally, I noted my previous post had a time signature on it.....I never post at such weird times like 0249hrs....it is a reasonable time here circa 2000hrs or thereabouts.
