Baptist view of children

Children are people, too.
Israelite children were Israelites, too, so the
Abrahamic Covenant applied to them also.

 

It appears to me that all families and "aliens" were included in the temporal aspects of God's covenants with Israel, Isaiah. Lot's family was included in his flight from Sodom, Noah's in his ark, the children of Israel in Moses "salvation" from Egypt. You'll see that the latter were even said to be "baptized in Moses through the cloud and through the sea." This means that they were the earthly equivalent of believers spiritually buried with Christ and risen. :godisgood:

Then, in Abraham (not Abram), they were included in the spiritual aspects of God's covenants through faith such that they went to "Abraham's bosom" when they died. Now, obviously, we all go to Christ's "bosom," right?

Children are "sanctified" by having believing parents. Basically, "sanctified" means learning and doing God's will and it can happen before and after salvation (although before it is for naught unless it leads to a salvation decision).

As this relates to the covenants -- you can see that God was sanctifying Israel through their traditions as they grew up unto salvation. By contrast, the infant in the lost home is not being taught and doing God's will and not in earthly covenant with God in any way.
