Baptists more than most denominations know what they believe (to some degree) but lack confidence in what they believe in that they can't internalize their faith or share why it is THEIR belief. Ya think???

Knowing what you believe without knowing why you believe it is simply a dogmatic form of ignorance--I think.

I'm not sure what you're thinking here KP. I witness everytime I go out. Even if it's just saying to the cashier at the grocery store that God sure has been good to us, sending this rain. I got my hair cut last week and witnessed to 3 women and one man in just about 20 mins. Some people look at me weird and some will ask me to pray with them.

I witness on the level of the person I am speaking to. Even the little kids need to know that Jesus loves them SO much!

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation, to everyone that believes.... Roman 1:16

If I believed something but did not know why, then I would have much knowledge and no wisdom.

I'm not sure exactly what you are saying. Could you clarify please?

I try to be always ready to give an answer. "Instant in season and out".

I am confident in what I believe because "I know in whom I have believeth".

    Blessings,
    Sue

It is imperative for each believer to know what they believe, and why they believe it, from the Word.

    2 Tim. 3:
    14: But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
15: And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

    A servant of Christ,
    Drew

Such is a leading cause of legalism. We are told WHAT to believe and WHAT to do, without understanding WHY.

Works GREAT for babies and little children, who need such guidelines to keep from serious danger or harm.

Sad when babies don't grow up . . or when our pastors or churches keep believers as babies so THEY (the pastor) can be more godlike in power and authority.

Yes and those babies go from bad to worse. The other babies couldn't recognize a leader if the person was standing in front of them.

If men and women are not discipling others there is sterility. If that were the case in the human realm someone who see a doctor to find out the problem. But too often the person in a church finds some religious service and is eventualy put in charge of something.

I believe if pastors came with the call God has given and would not accept a church until the people knew the pastor was serious about discipleship and the people were willing to carry out the command then the churches might get serious about God. They might get serious when the leadership gets serious. How can we say we are pastoring if we are not making disciples?
