Barack Hussein Obama

Barack Obama says his presidency is an opportunity for the U.S. to renovate its relations with the Muslim world, starting the day of his inauguration and continuing with a speech he plans to deliver in an Islamic capital.

And when he takes the oath of office Jan. 20, he plans to be sworn in like every other president, using his full name: Barack Hussein Obama.
"I think we've got a unique opportunity to reboot America's image around the world and also in the Muslim world in particular,'' Obama said Tuesday, promising an "unrelenting" desire to "create a relationship of mutual respect and partnership in countries and with peoples of good will who want their citizens and ours to prosper together."

The world, he said, "is ready for that message."

I still believe he is a closet muslim and will take the oath of office on a quran.

Can you imagine Obama liberating a Muslim country... or any other country for that matter.

Yes. But liberation doesn't always require military force. Ideas, like Democracy and world peace, are liberationg.

Any examples...and by the way an "idea" does not count. I'm talking about reality, not la la land. And I really do not see Obama liberating anyone...well maybe the homosexual community.

History is replete with people being liberated without military force. Even in recent history, the collapse of the GDR, the liberation of the former Czechoslovakia, and the collapse of the Soviet Union leading to the liberation of many component republics, including the annexed nations of Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania. Then there's the revolution led by Lech Walensa and the Solidarity movement in Poland. And don't dismiss ideas. The idea of freedom and democracy drove most of these bloodless coups.

Maybe Enoch needs to spend more time learning history and less time complaining about Obama.

South Africa

Belarus
Kazakhstan
There are other examples that could be mentioned.

I have absolutely no problem with him using his full name when he takes the oath of office. It is his name. He didn't choose it. Now, if he were to stand up there, having changed his name "Sadam Hussein Obama" or "Barack Hussein Osama", I'd have a huge problem with it. He's using his own, real name. There's nothing in the world wrong with that.

Having said that, I'm not leery of the man's name. I'm leery of the man.

Even if he is a closet Muslim, I don't think he would use the Quran to take the oath. He's a politician. Politicians are slicker than that. He would hurt his administration before it began if he were to do that.

If anything, I can see him not using any type of Bible. People might get a bit ruffled by that, but not to the same degree as using a Quran.

Will you apologize when he takes the oath with his hand on the Bible? Just curious.

Apologize for what?

For holding a belief about a future event that may be wrong?

We all have opinions about what the future will bring and I would say that most of them prove to be wrong.

Why apologize for not being able to accurately foresee the future?

Seems like I recall an elephant in the closet while this was going on, President Ronald Reagan and the rebuilding of the American military might, including the threat of the Strategic Missile Defense.

So you believe that the "ideas" of freedom and democracy do not play a role in liberating a people or a a nation? Your La La Land is called the United States of America.

I don't believe you are listing these countries as examples of peaceful democratic movements.

So when he doesn't take the oath of office on the Qur'an, will you admit you were mistaken?

I don't think he is either... He was giving support to MP's assertion that "history is replete with people being liberated without military force."

It seems you're shifting the question to make an unfounded accusation against Crabtownboy.

No I'm not. Just because there wasn't a declared war, doesn't equate a peaceful transfer of power. A group of civilians who take arms against a sitting government is every bit a military force.

BTW, I am not in the Obama = muslim camp. He will take his oath on the bible, I believe.
